Staying with lights, saw a couple of wicked ones coming at me yesterday. Basic ones on the back though. Why is that? I'd have thought they are equally important, especially as you can't see if you're at risk of a whack from behind.

I couldn't believe that either.

When I was MTB'ing I used to go on night rides, so had a stupidly bright front light (motorbike style visibility) and two LED lights on the rear. I was only on the road for about 400m in a well lit area, so didn't need anything brighter really.

I think they have their cut-off time wrong for team selection. The race starts at 11AM 22nd January. It's currently 22nd Jan 6:30PM (Adelaide time) and there is 14 days and 13 hours to go for team selection.

EDIT: And you can't really miss the young jersey for the TDU

That is disgusting. Though if someone showed me that and said it was from the 80s, I would probably declare it a retro classic. Still would never consider wearing it though.

I think I've worked out the time thing. The guys at road.cc appear to have the race cut-off at 9AM in the UK on the Tuesday, but have added 13 hours onto my time instead of taking it off. As the race is overnight Mon/Tuesday for you I get until halfway through stage 2 to do my transfers for stage 1.

Not that keen on it. Definitely preferred last year's. I'm not sure if that is a Team GB Jersey or Team Sky.

My favorite, and the only one ice ever purchased was the BBox Telecom one. Never changed much but was still clear and unique.
