Everton and West Ham won’t be in Europe any time soon.

Why would Arsenal be looking at a manager with a few months in the PL, with just 4 wins, when they’re looking to compete with Guardiola, Klopp and Mourinho? If they’re looking at young British, Howe has a long record.

I think a contractual extension after 6 months seems odd, as it doesn't show a lot of confidence in your new man.

Yeah, sorry, my comment was intended to be read along with the post I was quoting. On its own it looks like I was drunk. My point was that the suggestion that his original contract had a probation period would have meant there wasn't much faith shown in the new man when he first signed for us.

Of course a new contract now shows faith in him, if it's not a contractual obligation, as some have suggested.

So if a club decide they want rid of a manager, they don't have to pay any part of their remaining contract? That doesn't sound quite right.

But he is also the manager that beat them in Europe and it would be foolish to think that wasn't noted by the Arsenal hierarchy.

If GPott is to be believed when saying the only sticking point to moving to the Albion was the upheaval for his young family.
I think we can pretty much rule out a move to either of those hatstands.

I find it strange to award him an extension so soon, and suggested it may be to ward off Arsenal.

Two years at Arsenal or West Ham would probably be worth more to him than two years with us.

But after two years, further afield might be a good move........ Who knows.......

I didn't say that Triggaaar. And you know full well I can't go into any detail on how things are calculated or negotiated between all parties each time Managers get sacked by Clubs around the country.

He isn't the most charismatic character when it comes to interviews, and his analysis of tactics of where things have gone right and wrong sometimes goes over my head.

In short, this probably means he will be very successful here and else well. A very good decision by the club.
