Oh listen to all the holier than though NSC who I suppose have never parked on a yellow line in their lives.

You need to know Southwick and the lay out to know how outrageous it was. These streets have never been paraded and the spot I was in , is in no way obstructive to traffix , it is in a side road that noone uses to the side of a shop.

It was not in the middle of a road stopping people getting past.

Get off your high horse.

Are you in the clamping industry ???

There is no excuse for this shoddy practice.

I was just unlucky.

No im not nor a traffic warden ect. And your right it is a joke but you have no right to complain if you parked in an illegal space!

the only time in my life that i have been clamped was when i parked on the ground floor of a car park - in the disabled spaces - at 9pm at night - car park was totally empty, all shops were closed, but I had stuff in my boot to drop off so didn't want to park upstairs (entire ground floor was disabled)... was clamped within minutes of parking the car in a disabled space - £90 fee
Bloody handicapped get ALL the best spaces, right next to the shops and everything, while the rest of us have to put up with spaces right at the arse-end of the carpark every single time. How can that be fair ?

To leave your car on double yellows for 20 minutes you really were leaving yourself vulnerable though

Not saying you deserve an £85 clamp but we all know what double yellows mean and if you're not disabled why couldn't you have parked legally and walked a few more yards?

You should have parked somewhere where there were no double yellow lines and walked. The exercise would have done you good.

I have parked on double yellows, who hasn't im just saying that when we do it we are aware of the fact we might get clamped/have a ticket. Its a f***ing joke of a practice and as you said id rather clean the toilets with a toothbrush than do it.

LOL :)

I am very much in favour of disabled spaces - my grief was that no disabled would have been wanting to use those spaces when no shops were open. It was a car park dedicated for the shops it served and the entire car park was empty - other than me ... guess that is why it was easy for the clampers to spot me and earn themselves an unexpected bonus :(

This will make you laugh.

I parked up at 11.30 am Sunday morning ....

....When I came back at 11.50 pm

You took 12 hours picking up your winnings from the bookies?

No wonder you got clamped!

Hate to say it but, no matter how famous he was in the 60s, he should be clamped too.

No, no...if someone had been on a high horse then they wouldn't have been clamped.

That's where you went wrong...

It should be perfectly legal for us to use handicapped spaces as long as we're being quick and doing something important, like placing a bet, picking up winnings, getting a lottery ticket or buying a loaf of bread. Whats the WORSE that could happen ? The handicapped person might have to WAIT for a few minutes till you come back and free up the space ? Or they might have to walk / roll a little bit further. Hardly the end of the world, is it ?

The signs are big enough there Gareth. Maybe if you learnt to read you wouldn't have parked there (and your tips might be a bit better)

I'm always a little scared when you park in the Co-op too. Especially when you don't even have the decency to indicate when you turn down the home cleaning aisle.

Well its not as if I'm in danger of hitting anything in there, is it ? I've seen more stock in a Delhi steak shop. Its like shopping in the third world in that place.

Would a deli be too much to ask for ? And how about a loaf of white bread ? Get there any time after 10am and all you've got left is thick sliced wholemeal crap, and burger rolls. And don't even THINK about there being any baguettes left. They must have a "fresh" bakery the size of a phonebox.

And the freezers are half empty. Well, technically, half of the freezers are empty. They've normally got a full stock of eggs though. Good job they grow on trees.

No porn in the mag racks! Whatever next?

that has always been my argument too... I also factor in that the average disabled is quite used to a bit of waiting around as well because they often have to wait for someone to give them a push or a helping hand... and the chances of one coming along during the two minutes you're going to be in the shop are tiny in any case

also, can you actually be CLAMPED for using a space in a supermarket carpark that you aren't strictly meant to...?
