Two reasons - a) state sponsored murder is WRONG and b) what if we later find he's not actually guilty? There are so many cases of miscarriages of justice, it's not a risk worth taking, as I'm sure you'd agree if YOU were found guilty of something you didn't do.[/B][/QUOTE]

And why do we have people trying to get the release from prison of some of these scum just so they can go and commit these crimes all over again?
That's a completely different issue. John Reid has proved to be one big f*** up with his head-in-the-sand prison policy so we haven't got any space any more.

If someone raped and murdered a child, loads of DNA evidence - I feel that they should pay for the crime with their life

If that was my daughter - God only knows what i would do.
Sick and horrifying

It's a conundrum, because like you, I'd feel the same if it was my own daughter. But the fact is, watching a piece of scum fry wouldn't bring her back. I know I'd still be every bit as depressed and upset after the hanging of the guilty party...

It would give me a small amount of comfort knowing the bloke that did it had died in a horrible situation and hopefully was in an incredible amount of pain.

Yeah I am being serious! What is there to understand about why someone can sexually assault and murder a 2yr old girl?

You may call it state sponsored murder but I call it justice, we each have our opinion. Times have moved on from the last time we had capital punishment in this country and simple things like DNA have proved their weight in gold.

We should be trying to understand why it happens in order to prevent it.

Killing people (apart from in very certain situations such as during war time) is wrong. And for the state to kill ANYONE only ever serves to legitimise the killing of people. And for the state to cull anyone who is clearly sufficiently mentally-disabled in order to seek to do this sort of thing to a child is, frankly, barbaric - everyone should count their blessings that, unlike under the Nazis, say, the mentally-disabled are not just killed off by the state. All just my HO. And if anyone thinks that's a defence of people like that, then you're as mad as they are.

In that case we should torture them first until they tell us why they done it and then hang the b***ards.

Thats the whole point I was getting at earlier before you called me a cock, Lets not give them the punishment they deserve lets just try and understand them.

How can you prevent random sexual assault/murder?
Eh? This case isn't "random", it's the kid's uncle. And it nearly always is a relative.

And I think it would be sensible to try and understand the motivation of these sickos undertaking such crimes.

The punishment they deserve is life imprisonment. And I mean life. And let's try and understand why it happened AS WELL AS punishing the criminal. Why do YOU insist it's an either/or? ???

Hadn't read that this was done by the uncle yet. apologies.

But the point is that these crimes are hardly ever done by a random stranger. Child killings and abuse are nearly always at the hands of relatives. When was the last time a stranger kidnapped, tortured and killed a child. James Bulger in what, 1989 or something? And that was by two 13 year olds.

Nevertheless, I won't let the facts get in the way of a good old rant about how this country has gone to the dogs at the hands of PC do-gooders, whoever the f*** they are.

But will you not even work yourself into a sinister and almost masturbatory self-righteous frenzy of sadistic fantastising about torturing the people accused of it? What's WRONG with you do-gooders?

What is the point of keeping them in prison? their a waste of space and resources.

What is there to understand about these people? They are just cold blooded monsters who dont deserve the right to any kind of life.

If a dog attacked and killed a child it would be put down! Why cant these people just be put down as well?

And where are they now? Still being punished or living a protected life under new identities?

Sarah Payne? Soham Murders? The 3 year old that was taken from her house and raped last year?
Yeah I guess there are a handful of cases - although Soham wasn't random (the girls knew the murderers).

I'm sure there are cases that are not preventable, but I guess I'm more interested in the family ones, where I think a good proportion most certainly are...
