Ah ha. I have only played three of them (Mario x 2 & Tetris).

No Sensible Soccer?! Not really an action game player or much of a player at all. I used to love the original (2D) Prince of Persia.

Edge is a pretty serious mag, all the publishers and developers advertise for staff there, so I would say that the readership are mature gamers

I'm not too sure - any list that can include FF XII, but not FF VII suggests it has been voted for by younger players. FF VII was groundbreaking, in my opinion the greatest game ever - and I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of FF fans who've played the whole series as they've grown up would put VII at the top of the list.

I've never played any of the FF/half life games fully so I wouldn't know.

I'd also certainly have SNES mariokart is there, and poss sf2

Whilst not necessarily up ther with the 'best' games, my personal list would also include

- Super Shinobi/Golden axe - great memories of my jap megadrive
- Gunhed - PC engine was mindblowing for it's time
- Manic Miner - Classic speccy, still play it emulated on my DS from time to time.

**edit - and up ther with the most played, Tony Hawk skating 1 and 2. I beileve I am still the Brighton regional champ at TH2...!

GTA San Andreas is superb, but Vice City still pips it for me, purely cos of those achingly brilliant radio stations playing all that 80's music. I can just drive around for HOURS in that game just listening to the radio.

Vice City Stories on the PSP is even better.
