....that's because we're not a MASSIVE club that DESERVES to be in the EPL and will be CHALLENGING for Europe next season...............:whistle::rolleyes:

Really looking forward to their relegation struggle.

Mate, mate, mate. Come on mate. "Challenging for Europe"? This is Leeds mate. LEEDS. They auto-qualify for it on account of their biggliness.

Fingers crossed they're a Fulham/Villa rather than Wolves Sheff Utd.

On a slightly different tack
I really think that Leeds United's attempt to secure White's services permanently has been a Case Study in how not to do it.

First we have the public adulation of the player (fair enough); then we have the media comments from former players about the absolute necessity to buy him regardless of cost; then an 'open' declaration that Bielsa is determined to do all he can to effect the signing, by which times the fans have been whisked up into a frenzy of presumption, entitlement and downright disrespect to the club that has final decision making powers on the matter.

By the time this has all come to a climax, it becomes impossible for them to acquire his services without the Albion fans feeling that gross bad behaviour has been rewarded. The worst imaginable practice in negotiation.

Whatever happened to the Hughton approach 'We'll have to see; ultimately he is their player and they can decide' ?

More expectation amongst their fans, leads to higher pressure on Leeds to sign him, leads to a more desperate negotiations, leads to higher fee being paid (if we agreed to sell), leads to them having less budget to fill the several other glaring gaps in their squad.

The whole thing is a win-win for us, but still would like to keep White and tell Leeds where they can shove it.

Bemused as to how there seems a lot of people on this thread who are very sure about the exact salaries of various individuals in our first team squad.

21;30 Wednesday evening as White leaves Elland Road to meet Bruno with his Albion Tracksuit, Leeds stuff dumped in the bin and bring him home.

Really think we need to make a statement and sign him up to a new contract. Will cost us but show him we're serious about him too.

Could stick in a cheeky release clause only for Leeds and Liverpool. If he's worth 40M or so we could make it 160M since they're both so eager and massive.

Hopefully it drags on a bit so it leaves Leeds little time to spend the cash when he inevitably stays with the club that own him.

That has reminded me of a vague memory when Eric Young went to Wimbledon. Apparently he continued to use an Albion bag. Those hilarious wags at Wimbledon ended up setting fire to it in the changing room from memory.

Clubs usually do put out a Tweet stating that loan players will be returning to their parent clubs, thanks for their services this season etc., the day after the last game of the season. That'll be a nice reminder to their fans that he isn't actually a Leeds player.

Given the Leeds twitter admin seems to be a bit of a tool, the wording of that will be interesting!

I know the above is tongue in cheek, but genuinely, where would Leeds find the money to get White?

They're obligated to buy Jean-Kevin Augustin for a reported £19 million and Illan Meslier despite Kiko Casilla being on a reported £32k a week and planning to stay for the length of his contract. They've just bought Helder Costa for £16m and they will surely look to get Jack Harrison on a permanent. That's £50m already spent on players for next season. Where are they going to find £30m for White?

They may get the dirty money investment, which will give them very deep pockets. However, it is still amusing that they are having to shell out about 80m in the summer transfer window just to keep the same team that got them promoted.

Another factor may be when the transfer window closes. It is quite conceivable this will be after the start of the season and therefore quite possible that Ben White starting in our team just kills this all off once and for all. Once he realises he is a first team starter (and possibly sees Leeds lose their first few games) I can't see any further talk of moving to Leeds.

It will definitely be after the season starts.
