probably a bit of a generalisation there - but there are a minority (like me) who pay my way, pay my taxes, support my local community and still get all sorts of grief by trying to stay here!! Its a losing battle either way....

Its a myth that the UK is the best country in the world to live in. Its a shit hole !. You get sod all for your efforts and are beaten down by the government if you get ideas above your station and try and make a good living for yourself.

If you work hard and a professional person in the USA the least you would expect to come home to every night is a 4/5 bed detached house with a swimming pool and as much as you could eat and drink with a 50 ft long car in the driveway.

I agree we need to be more concerned with our own peoples welfare than foreigners, and by and large I think we are, its just too many people take too much notice of a minority of scaremongerers

I have been drinking in pubs for 18 years in this country and have never been caught up in a fight, ok I've had to break one up ONCE, but thats it. judging by some of the misguided ignoramis comments on here you'd think we lived in Palestine FFS!

So why doesn't it happen in other countries? Of course you get crime everywhere (as your example demonstrates, you've always had it here too) but normally because people, say, want to steal something, not just behave antisocially for the sake of it?

I have my own reasons why it only happens here - I think it's a legacy of the recent age when people were being told that there no such thing as society and selfishness was actively encouraged and things like consideration and a sense of community were perceived as weaknesses. "Chavs" are, I think, both the offspring and the outcome of "Essex Man".
