That post was a load of drivel when it was written on your blog and it's total rubbish on here.

It's simply not true to say that Caroline Lucas is only going to gather votes in Hanover and New England. As TLO has pointed out, there's plenty of support for her in Fiveways and even in Coldean, there are several Green posters.

It's also not just newcomers to Brighton who vote for her, I'm at least a fifth generation Brightonian and I'm certainly going to vote for her - she's going to get the votes of many traditional Labour party voters who feel alienated by the current Labour party.

And do you really think she's going to be called into government? That's what you imply when you refer to her as "the right honourable member".

To be honest, this sounds like the ravings of someone who needs to get out a bit more and listen to the views of ordinary people, not just the sound of his own voice.

Well, this is HB&B we're on about - he's a fifth generation Brightonian you know.

You couldn't tell it from that grizzling rant though.

As I said, I'm not questionning the position of the Greens, just saying that in my opinion it isn't going to be:

a) a sure thing
b) a straight 2-horse race.

a) The Greens winning Brighton Pavilion is nothing like 'a sure thing'.

b) Bearing in mind the Lib Dems are nowhere in Pavilion, a lot of the Labour vote across the city (not just in those area Tiddles was blathering on about) has swung to Green. Will it in perpetuity? Who knows? But I'd wager (not with money, of course) that if there were a third horse, it would be a lame nag with a red rosette.

I am pleased the article is now in the top 20 of the most read on the Argus website. Even a diverse and trendy City has an interest in politics. As long as it's diverse and trendy politics.

Keep it up, Agent Timmy. The plan is working even better than we thought. A few more posts and no one will be voting Tory.

Former labour MP Dave Nellist going up against Bob Ainsworth in Coventry North East as part of the Trade Union and Socialist Alliance. Could be interesting

You're going to have to explain what 'trendy politics' means.

And please don't refer me to that drivel you've shat all over the Arsegas website.

Well I will be extremely frank with you. Trendy politics involves those who may frequent the Cowley Club or that Veggie pub at the bottom of Trafalgar Street, the George is it? People who's attitude and status in life ensures that they have no real interest in politics or much at all in the mainstream of society.

However they can vote for an ecologically friendly organisation that doesn't mean they are conforming to an interest in mainstream politics.Once one of this group decides to vote others will follow in large swathes.

However (and this is the frank bit) many people who have flaunted their Green support are unlikely to vote. 1) Because for various reasons they are not registered to do so. 2 Because if you live in environments such as perhaps Well End Villas or the New England quarter you may be reluctant to hand in your polling card, as by doing so confirms you live in that address currently and of course certain authorities and organisations may be made aware of this.

It sure is a diverse City.

How do you explain the Green successes in the council election then? People clearly went to polling stations and voted Green - your theory doesn't hold up.

Now don't be asking him hard questions like that in the hope of a sensible answer.

He couldn't give one to the question I asked, and that was on the back of a phrase he used.

What question? Come on quick. I have to be at the Church of The Good Shepard hall at 6.50 in the morning, as I am helping to conduct exit polls.

Yes as I said on the other thread a mix up at HQ meant another supporter was booked to do that stint. I am doing Preston Park later.

Oh and Alan you haven't thought of a response to my 'trendy politics' answer yet.....or maybe had one thought for you:wink:

Your answer was genius, Agent Timmy. Just what we need to convince people that Tories are liars and bigots.
