Anyone thinking of kicking the coffin nails into touch after today ?

This could be the push I need. I cannot justify the expense anymore and my smoking has increased dramatically in these difficult times. A parallel universe sort of thinking. I brought I hope my last packet of coffin nails tonight and got a result as the bloke did not know the news and had not whacked the 37 p at 6pm when he could have done.

Any smokers thinking the same ?

I smoked from age 16 to 30. If I'd put all the fag money in a tin, on my 30th birthday I could have emptied the tin and bought a brand new Mercedes.

No way boys don't do that,if too many of you give up smoking the tax revenues will go down and they will have to find that money elsewhere. Please don't do it.

Good luck Unc. Compared to pre-rolled ciggies rolling baccy is still relatively cheap and I only have the very occasional oily rag so I'm not in the same boat as full time smokers. They were interviewing the head of pro-smoking group FOREST on the radio the other day - and he's a non-smoker ffs!

Well yes pseudonym that is a good point. Governments down the years have relied on smokers as a form of tax cuts elsewhere and also for major funding of the NHS. So if we all stopped smoking en-masse, they would have to find the money from the non smokers. And I won't be giving up any time soon... I just go abroad and stock up, rarely buy cigs in this country now.

The tax revenue from tobacco is mind boggling LB.

Go on Uncle - do it! Its hard but worth it!

Alan Mann died today, not sure many of you will know him but he's a motorsport legend from the 60's in Cortina GT's (what we race), Falcons, GT40s and Escorts to name a few, in famous gold and red livery. He died from emphysema and his last few years had aparently been awful, with 24 hour care and no quality of life. Quitting gives you a better chance of avoiding that possibility.

Woah there, little soldier. Anybody suffering from clinical depression really ought to discuss this with their doctor before giving up fags. It might well be medically unsafe for you to go through addiction withdrawal at the same time as combating depression.

Is this mean't to be some sort of joke ? Please explain.

Am on my last 50g pouch, as a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend won't be able to get me my tobacco anymore. Just the excuse i've been looking for.

I already did.

I appreciate and am very touched with your concern but I have not been diagnosed with clinical depression and the " little solider " demeaning comment was the one that showed that it was a trolling post.
