My recollection of that day is that he tripped over his feet because whichever scouser it was behind him kicked him firmly on the arse just as he was in the act of shooting, Lanky.

Budgie's goal that day was a bit of a 'marvellous scenes' moment, for sure.

Albion v Man City. Goldstone. 28.12.1979. Peter Ward. I stood in a packed West Stand, aged 14. Wardy's goal finished a move that involved most of the team. The highlights were on Southern Soccer, so the goal has been preserved for posterity.
