A coach driver in the oxford services today, told me that Port Vale is the only team that is not named after a town or place..

Is he right?

Is Everton a place/suburb?

Interesting bloke he was

Arsenal ?

Think they were named after Woolwich Arsenal but moved north of the river.

Pretty certain Everton is a suberb in Liverpool.

Port Vale is an English association football club who currently play in Football League One. They are based in Burslem, Staffordshire one of the six towns that make up Stoke-on-Trent. Stoke is home to two league football clubs, the other being Stoke City whose ground is five miles away.

Along with Arsenal, they are one of only two professional clubs in England not to be named after a place, though they originally took the name Burslem Port Vale, just as Arsenal were originally Woolwich Arsenal.

Everton is a district.

I have a book that claims[b/] Arsenal shouldn't be in the top division at all.

Why not ?

Everton originally played at Anfield, a fact I love to tell Liverpool fans.

I told you that:angry:

Arsenal finished 5th in 1919, but were voted into the top league "controversially"

The title says teams without a town, well loads of teams are named after a CITY so do not have a town.
