No, you're not alone. There are some very short sighted members of this forum who cannot see long term. It's great to see the youngsters playing in exactly the same style as the senior squad which is why some of them have been able to make the step up fairly seamlessly.
It's almost as if posters have never seen non league teams beat league teams in the FA cup before. Goldfish memories.

But we DO have a depleted squad through injury and he didn't want to risk more players than he needed to. That is not showing disrespect to Wrexham that is taking a sensible approach to our current situation. Do you really believe that Wrexham would have preferred to play a full strength Albion side giving less opportunity of making the next round?

We need to stay in the Championship and if that means giving a run out to the development squad in cup ties then I am all for that

Totally agree.

All the criticism of today's line up seems to have forgotten our current list as long as your arm of injuries & suspensions. Also, today was a perfect opportunity for giving the youngsters invaluable 1st team experience. Gus done the right thing today for me.

I don't know but whenever BHAFC have played a team from a higher league I have always wanted the other side to put out their strongest possible team or the win seems cheap and hollow.

We put LuaLua in the team today and now he's out for 8 weeks. If CMS or El-Abd were also risked, then where would that leave us with league games?

Why take the risk when we already have an injury list as long as your arm? We didn't lose the game today although anyone could be forgiven for thinking that we did the way the moaners are carrying on. Last year we had to have two replays in the cup and still got to the fifth round. Poyet wasn't disrispecting Wrexham, he simply didn't have enough players to play.

Really enjoyed seeing some of the dev squad play today. I think some of the moans are understandable but people need to remember they are development, hence they are developing! They're not the finished article yet, and I'm sure we working with them to make them better when it comes to the final ball and so on.

Also don't have a problem with Gus's selection, it was pretty much as full strength as we could be starting off with the exceptions of CMS and Bridcutt, who have both played so much this season probably needed a break.

Exactly !,

Poyet can only select on the basis of the facts before him. He chose the team today based on what's in the best interests of OUR club, not on the basis of whether it disrespects the opposition or not. I couldn't give a flying f*** what the opposition thinks, Gus works for us, not them. Of course, he's not disrespecting them anyway - their manager, put in the same position, would most likely do exactly the same thing.

Quite. I enjoyed seeing some of that patient build-up play just outside the Wrexham box trying to tease their defence apart, which I'm guessing is something that Gus wants as an attacking option. It works well enough for Spain, after all. Most Championship defences we've played wouldn't tolerate it for a second, not with the squad and the confidence we've currently got, so it was worth giving it a go against Wrexham instead of constantly snatching at half-chances (although we did a bit of that too). Gus and the players have probably learned something from its so-so success.

Best post I've seen in ages. The Gus style will suit the improved squad come August 2012, with some players who weren't up to it at Champ' level long departed.

Very exciting and promising today. We were so much better than them and that was the frustrating thing. I think the 'Shoot!' thing came about because of the dodginess of their keeper - he was bound to spill something. We just needed somebody to follow up.

That said, play the majority of the team that ended the game, in the style we were playing and I'm sure we'll be fine.

Im not convinced that they were booing the DS players. There were a few regulars out there today who gave pretty poor performances IMO and rightly deserve a kick up the arse.

Some would say after our fairly mediocre performances of late, that fielding our best eleven available players and absolutely going out to wipe Wrexham off the park with quick incisive passing like we managed to play last season might actually give the team a belief that we can win again regularly.
A CMS Hat-trick today would have been a real boost before Bristol City next saturday.
I don't think we are likely to see the likes of Kasim,Rodgers or probably Agdestein again this season, so why build up their confidence in preference to CMS.

Sounds like you could be seeing more of them in the replay based on Gus' post match comments.

I really enjoyed seeing the development squad players today....thought they all showed great potential

Im not convinced that they were booing the DS players. There were a few regulars out there today who gave pretty poor performances IMO and rightly deserve a kick up the arse.

I wasn't really talking about the booing but the moans about passing the ball (to slowly, not incisive enough etc).

3) We do not need to "Send it" down the wing every time we pick the ball up in midfield

4) "About time we played some long ball" is not an appropriate comment for the North stand

5) If you ever, ever, ever come and sit near me again and boo a team with SIX development players off the pitch after we draw with a decent conference side; having had plenty of shots and played the proper style of football that Gus wants us to, I will hunt you down and f***ing KILL YOU




Apologies to all regular NSC'ers for the rant, and to all the ST holders who usually sit around me but decided not to come or sit elsewhere - freeing the seats for dickheads to occupy, I look forward to sitting with you for the next game and having a bit of normality back.

SOunds like you were sat near me!! Row P north stand close to the East. Some right frigging knobs around us today that obvious had not been before and so glad they are not going to be there next week, standing up swearing loudly, in fact screaming at one stage, "your f***ing shit" when we didnt shoot and once when JFC had a pass go astray, he shouted "overpaid waste of space" in the end even a steward came in with a video recorder and started filming his as his language was so bad.

For whay its worth I thought he kids did a great job today and showed great calmness on the ball and some great vision. The future of the club is in great hands and I am so for that. I no Vic Bragg personnally and he has raved about our kids for a while now and seeing them today I can see why.
