I have just noticed that yesterday afternoon at 4.30 the LDC Twitter account mentioned there were no plans to cancel bin collection, also mentioned they had been contacted by concerned residents because of the severe weather warnings.

You are correct saying it would have been more sensible to announce yesterday. Most of the residents in my road put the bins out on a Thursday evening because bins are usually collected at about 7am.
abit stupid announcing it this morning I have been around my close and but all bins back in gardens

If anyone lives in Lewes District Council they've suspended waste collection today. Sensible decision, but maybe more sensible if they'd done it yesterday before everyone put the bins out and left for work

Posties have been sent home in Worthing.

Brighton Uni closed Eastbourne Campus. Teaching moved online "if possible". The useless morons posing as staff in the (former) Polytechnic will obviously take the opportunity for an extra day off.

Just landed at Gatwick. Very very bumpy on the final approach. Flight took an extra 20 minutes due to a head wind and the fact the plane was heavy due to taking on extra fuel but otherwise all good.

Reason for extra fuel was because the pilot didn’t want to refuel in Gatwick….not sure why this was.

Yes, my neighbour alerted us at 7.30am so my other half went and got ours back in the garden.

We're fortunate where we are because we are leeside of the wind.

LDC will probably collect on Monday without any announcement, everyone’s bins will then be back in their gardens or in France
