At one stage the Conservatives had the best part of a 20% lead in the polls it could be down to less than 5% (?) any reason ? For me, i don't know really waht they stand for the country is crying out for a strong leader and CMD does not seem to be that.

Indeed it isn't Labour closing the gap so much as the tory toff losing it...........like Kinnoch all over again.

Fingers crossed for a labour government dependent on power sharing to form a majority

time for our politics to change rather than "more of the same" whether it's red or blue

Often happens. The closer to the general election you are, with opposition initially having a larger percentage share, the gap tightens as the public become nervous about change and stick with the devil you know attitude.

Here's hoping anyway

partly because there's nothing really interesting about the Tory's, but largly because the polling is a bit suspect. the process itself is inaccurate, people react to news and react in polling to recent events, where as at the actual vote they thing of the future more. it was never near 20pt lead was it?

Because, the time for criticizing and trying to put the shit up New Labour is over, and the time for realising that you'd still prefer them to Cameron is upon us. Polls are a load of crap.

The Tories have mismanaged the last 12 months in terms of policy communication. We've had 2 years of volatility and if punters are going to vote Tory then they'll want to know what the policies will be and how they'll be different to Labour. The fact is we're still waiting to find out.

It's because the Tories are untrustworthy ,and people are starting to remember this as the poll nears.

Please, pretty please, let's not put these onanists back in power.

Labour are closing the gap because they are the political cognoscenti and they have their eye on the ball. They are the good guys, and their five election pledges are honest, decent and truthful:

The first of the five pledges is to secure economic recovery, halving the current £167bn budget deficit.

The second is to raise family living standards – with low mortgage rates, increased tax credits for families with young children, helping first-time buyers and relinking the state pension with earnings from 2012.

The third is to build a hi-tech economy through support for businesses and industry in creating a million new skilled jobs and the delivery of high-speed rail, a green investment bank and broadband access for all.

The fourth is to protect frontline investment in policing, schools, childcare and the NHS – with a new guarantee of cancer test results within a week.

The fifth pledge is to strengthen fairness in communities through controlled immigration, guarantees of education, apprenticeships and jobs for young people and a crackdown on antisocial behaviour – with victims entitled to take out civil injunctions, funded by the local public authority, if the police are not taking action within a set time.

Oh, and the million or so Labour voters who withheld their vote last time on account of Tony B.Liar's collaboration in the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq will be back to vote this time around. They won't be voting Tory, and they won't be pissing their votes up the Lib-Dem wall either.

Go LARGE on Labour

Its a tough choice, have the country led by a not-so-much admired guy who can make some mistakes or be led by the party that don't really give a damn about anyone who is below a doctor.

To be honest, you have to give labour SOME credit, they have somehow managed to keep the country on its feet. Even if a little shaky

I think a lot of people now know that Gordon Brown can take pressure and exert firm leadership. The handling of the financial crisis and his ability to ride out some difficult political storms is testament to firm leadership.

He has recently shown that he can get the better of David Cameron at PMQ’s and the outcome to his attendance at the Chilcot enquiry (bearing in mind this could have been a potential banana skin) was favourable.

I anticipate that he will come across extremely well in the three 90 minute debates in April in the face of lightweight opposition as he is very retentive, measured and will be well prepared.

As has been the case in recent elections the Tories are starting to look like a busted flush.

Britain has a lot of problems at the moment but not in the way the Tories claim. Their social isolation and lack of strategic solutions point to this.
