The only thing that I think is WRONG is the idea that premium ticket holders might have priority over other season ticket holders for tickets for 'high priority' away games. But there may be time for the Club to review that.

That's because you are a tired old socialist. In order for the club to make these memberships attractive (which they have to because as a club we need the money) they need to supply some added value. Some of these will cost them money (better seats, car parking, program etc.), some of them will require a capital outlay but will then be profit generators (bars, restaurants etc.) and some, best of all from their point of view, don't cost a dime (priority for away games).

If the club relied only on ordinary paying punters, no corporates, no 1901, no sponsorship, no advertising etc. we would have the financially weakest team in the leagues. To snag the extra money you've got to give something and something that costs nothing is always going to be a favourite.

I don't know why we are bothering with Falmer we should just play on Hove Lawns then we could do the hospitality at Buddies

I asked a second question about the capacity of the dining facilities to feed the premium ticket holders. TGC has now said that "that the fine dining options need booking in advance and are not guaranteed". That answers that question. It's not what is suggested by the information that is in the public arena, where the implication is that access to the dining areas comes automatically with the package.

It strikes me that it would be incredibly foolhardy to build 'fine dining' facilities that match the capacity of the 1901 Club exactly, ie 2000 seats.

I think that because I don't believe there would be demand for 2000 'fine dining' seats at each and every game as I think there would be a lot of fans who do not want pre-match fine dining as a matter of course each and every game. Some might, but I reckon many will only seek to take advantage of such a facility every now and again such as on special occasions.

As such facilities for 2000 could represent a massive waste of space within the stadium and, possibly worse, would seem somewhat cavernous and short of atmosphere to those who do choose to dine. And it could then become a vicious circle as people don't want to go there as a result.

Is the right answer!

The choice allows big groups to celebrate with a match meal. You couldn't sell 2000 seats with dining and have the option of legends meals, bithdays etc etc.

I'm not sneering at anyone who has bought the package. I am genuinely concerned that the Club is overselling what is on offer.

It may be that they are simply victims of a failure to estimate accurately what the demand would be. But, if that is the case, they need to do something about it. Simply carrying on, trying to sell more premium seats, isn't the answer. However much money it brings in.

The club are not doing anything of the sort. I've been along to a presentation, asked a number of questions and have subsequently asked questions about the platinum package. I've been given pretty clear answers and I feel I know exactly what I'm getting. They're not overselling anything. Maybe you should go along as well, instead of basing your views on hearsay.

I find it amusing that you make these claims about the club, yet you and your real-ale chums use some wooly and vague NSC poll to estimate ditch water demand in the supporter's bar.

As I understand it, all platinum seats (Which are now sold out) were bought by either existing ST holders or existing hospitality clients. I stand to be corrected but I think that is right.

This is correct. We went to one of the earlier presentations, and everyone there were people we see every week at Withdean. It was made abundantly clear that the only people the Platinum seats were being offered to were existing STH, existing hospitalty users , existing sponsors and contributors. And they are all 100% Albion fans. Until May we were told that noone would be offered these seats unless they met that criteria. The comments some people are making seem to be based on ill informed missinformation. You get this at all grounds, in all sports in all countries, yes it was alwaysgoing to happen at Falmer, and it is Great that it is fans who are buying these seats, not just faceless corporate groups. In fact we've been told that there are a couple organisations who spend big bucks supporting the Albion who got the hump because they didn't get in quick enough for seats on the middle tier and gave settled for lower tier seats, and have asked to go on a waiting list for if and when seats become available on the middle tier.

Exactly, I doubt I will use it more than for the bar and maybe a meal two or three times in the season.

I think everyone seems to have diverted away from the point here. Whether you think the debenture is a good deal or not (personally I don't, but I'm certainly not going to knock anyone who wants to pay it) the issue is the priority for away tickets. Not whether they get a meal, not how many people can have a meal, not the state of the toilets or the coordinates of the seats to the pitch.

Well actually the original post was this:

1901 Club

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who else has gone for this?

And can it become a secretive illumini type organisation please?!! I think that would add some glamour to it

I think others have diverted it onto other things!!

Not really. I think it's a shit deal and will be full of corporate types, but if those on nsc who have said they're doing it enjoy it then fair play to them. Personally, I am going to back myself to get a lot of meals out for £1,000 + £90 a month and enjoy myself just as much with a view a few rows higher or lower at Falmer.

You mentioned you would not knock anyone who has bought one...but you have done this.

Is that worth £1,000 plus more than double the amount the rest of us will pay?

Sorry, I couldnt resist say that...and I do not mean it.

I've got my reasons for buying in and I'm comfortable with my decision. I'm going to bail out of this thread. I'm full of Indian food and feeling sleepy now.

I just don't get why you and some others seem so convinced it is going to be full of 'corporate types'. Have you simply not read what others have posted on this, or have you formed an opinion of your own, regardless of the facts? Just chill a bit, you might think it's a shit deal, but there are a lot of us who don't think that at all.
