And, as a consequence, good news for those seeking to get above them in the PL. Worth adding that Lloris is also out for a while (6 weeks?), and Forster is a great big lump that can't get down to make saves, as he very ably demonstrated against Leicester.

Whenever someone leaves the club, there are too many who think that denigrating that someone expresses their love for the club

Completely agree, although I'd insist its thanks to the last four governments: that's when the cuts started and it was the likes of the disabled, local councils and the criminal justice system they slashed the most enthusiastically.

While I agree with most of this, I'd offer that 21/22 was his breakthrough season, but I'm really looking forward to what he does in 22/23 (and that we retain him beyond that).

Yes, this is yet another tiresome and infuriating trope we're subjected to, and it's only becoming more prominent at this time of the year.

Yes, we were assured by so many that, once he got back from the African Cup of Nations, he'd given up, and was thinking about his new contract at another club. And those people are convinced that they're fans of the club.

Bissouma will be off, plenty of suitors for him. Trossard could go to a club with bigger budgets, but would probably have to settle for far less playing time in return for more money. Would he really want to do that in a World Cup year? Maupay: not sure too many PL clubs will be coming in for him.

I suspect you were too busy looking at tractors enthusiastically to spot the usual enthusiasm.

He's stunning, but he's nowhere near Declan Rice, despite the fact that Rice is two years younger.

I was behind the goal, higher-up for that game. Biss and Ali Mac came on after about an hour, and both were tremendous, Biss especially. He was also the best player against Spurs by some distance. Other performances have been below par. He's been a great servant, and I certainly won't be...

But he has to go to a CL club for £100m+ irrespective of the length of his contract, for the very simple reason that he plays for the club I support.
