Seconded. As someone who moved out of Maidenhead just a few weeks ago, I can vouch that they've struggled this year. (Not that I ever went mind: my opinion is based entirely on the local press!)
I've only come across this syndrome once, but it was astonishing.
Went on holiday to Corfu with a girl called Angela, who declined to take a dump the whole week we there because she could 'only ever go on her home toilet'.
Perhaps I should have taken her up the arse to get her to unclench for...
Agree with most people, it has lost much of the magic it had. The early rounds still possess some of it, but the monopoly of the big clubs and the dilution of Wembley as a once-in-a-lifetime moment has dulled the later stages.
It would be nice to do well in for a change though, it's been FAR...
Remember that day. It was a good one. The A23 was jammed all the way down to Brighton, and the Goldstone heaving in every corner. 5-0, all our goals good long range shots. "One team in Sussex, there's only one team in Sussex."
* stops there before turns into Rowley Birkin QC *
GMTV this morning had the couple from Worthing who won £8.5m the other week. I was dying for them to say "...and we're going to give some to our local team, Brighton and Hove Albion."
But they didn't.
"Some cars. Ooh, and a holiday" was about as imaginative as they got.
Truly pointless interview.
Fair enough, and memories/photos of that day are truly bitter sweet. But the actual demolition and subsequent conversion into a crappy retail park is nothing but agony, which no-one likes to be reminded of.
Walking away after the Donny game that day remains the last time I ever set foot in that...
