[Politics] Protests/rioting in lots of places

There is a fair number of rightwing thug types in Crawley, who also have Muslim friends. Its a weird thing. I don't think there will be too many Crawley residents wanting to have a pop at refugees, plenty that would love to smash up shop fronts and go looting though.

[Politics] Protests/rioting in lots of places

When an incident occurs these days, it's in the news within minutes, this is not good for accuracy of reporting. I know for a fact that the opposite has also happened, Police have said they are investigating a suspected Terror attack, and it has turned out to be someone havjng a psychotic...

[Politics] Protests/rioting in lots of places

No, tbh, it's not really a pub these days, it's the Emerald club on Southgate Playing field. The Arora Hotel is the one close to me that has asylum claimants. Unfortunately, the Holiday Inn on the square about is being targeted for a demonstration on Friday, that is near the Moonraker. Hopefully...

If it is not legal to claim asylum in the UK, how are we able to legally grant asylum in the UK, to anyone that has come on a small boat from France?

There could be, it may be the difference between a person being supported whilst their claim is being assessed, and those that have been assessed as genuine refugees and have the right to remain, or the difference between thise in a country that grants temporary asylum initially, and full asylum...

[Politics] Protests/rioting in lots of places

It's not naive, it's the truth, if you want to say it isn't true, counter it with something. It's not being suggested we euthanise the elderly, but if you want the funds available to look after them, and do everything else, we need people in work and paying taxes, its the reason retirement age...

[Politics] Protests/rioting in lots of places

Bibby Stockhom was connected in some way, not sure about others. What I did learn is that the first year of costs/support from the state for refugees was being written down as foreign aid, so it was being used as a way to keep money that was agreed to be spent overseas, in the UK. I would be...

In international law, they can travel through a safe 3rd country, UK law is a bit grey right now, as the Rwanda bill is a mess and won't be used, but has passed. Travelling through a 3rd safe country can be used as a reason to declare the asylum claim inadmissible, but it is still not illegal to...

To be fair, it must be quite distressing to realise how much shit he has dropped himself in.

If they claim asylum, they have arrived legally, even if that claim is subsequently denied. It would only be illegal if they arrived again having been refused and removed already, used false documents, or lied about who they are or where they are from.

I hope the beak is wearing his Newcastle shirt as he sends them down.

I would, but I don't mind if they stay in the hotel or other existing buildings near by, in fact, they do, and my wife speaks to quite a few on her morning dog walk. However, a Palace fan runs the nearest pub to that hotel and displays anti refugee stickers including the Palace Eagle behind his...

Good post, but I fear the MMT nutter may be aroused by it and feel the need to tell you how it's all easily fixed by just printing more money.

If so, not the way to react, perhaps saying an official protest march with route and time approved by the Police will be policed differently to people assembling on Whitehall because Laurence Fox told them to.

    [News] Hamas/Gaza/Israel

If thats true, you must think Israeli negotiators were being dishonest in negotiation, by simply entering negotiations with someone they never had any intention of compromising with. For the war to end the way the war with Hitler did, multiple nations would need to come together to push back...

Who called him "moderate"? Obviously he wasnt a mediator either, a mediator is someone other than the parties involved. He was however negotiating for an end to the fighting, and has now been removed, and whilst I appreciate you may shed no tears for him, do you think it's a good thing for...

There are other factors, but language is a big one. Some come because the UK has a shorter time period before allowing family reunion, so after 6 months, an accepted refugee can bring his wife and kids, it can be 2 years or more elsewhere. Some come because they have family here already, and can...

It's not our island that's tiny, and it isn't rammed with people. West Sussex has a population around 900,000. 100,000, of them live alongside me in Crawley. There is room to build, but people don't want their villages to become towns. There is a housing supply problem, with many contributing...
