We can't let the fact he plays for Palace blind us to how good a player he is. He fully deserves this call up due to the stunning form he has been in for our rivals this season. I'm a tad surprised Muzza hasn't been called up as well :lolol:

Playing well against the likes of Peterborough and Ipswich is not the same as performing against the top sides in the Premiership. If he signed for a Premiership club in January and had a good second half of the season I'd understand the call-up but I think Roy has lost the plot calling up a championship player or maybe it's just a reflection on how the England side is at an all time low.

Although he falls over a bit too easily he is very pacey going forward with the ball and crucifies many Championship defenders with some great skill. Shame he plays for Palace but looking like Arsenal are interested.

Lets hope one of the Swedish defenders doesn't lunge in too high and causes Winifred to suffer from splattered meatballs.

True, but playing for Palace, he can only beat what's put before him. It's only a friendly and if he plays it will be a real test to see if he actually could hack it against the better defenders.

He's a 20 year old, he'll be training with the elite of English football, and probably get all their autographs ! so I don't think a possible 20 minute second half stint will give a true reflection of his ability.
He's in his third season with us, and is now playing consistently well, but playing at international level will be daunting for a young boy,but I'm sure it won't stop him playing his normal game. ( cue diving jokes !)

I hate to say it, but that run against Peterborough (yes only Peterborough) was ridiculously good, I've made some silly comments about Zaha but I'm not afraid to say it, he will be the best player Palace will ever produce.

If he didn't dive and play for Palace then i'd rate him a lot more than I do.

As much as I rate him, he doesn't quite deserve an England call up, I'd say the same for any of our Englishman.

I doubt it's about Roy losing the plot, let's not forget Zaha is in the team because so many people are unavailable (at least five people have pulled out, and that's before you get in gentlemen's agreements about not picking players from top teams), so I suspect there is an element of "who is in the under 21 team we can look at?" about it.

That's not to say Zaha isn't a good player, he clearly is, but there are extenuating circumstances.

Putting all the rivalry aside (Palace fan in peace by the way) As England fans do you not want someone exciting on the wing taking on the best defenders in the world and making them look silly wearing the three lions on his shirt?

I honestly don't give a toss if a Brighton player went on to be one of the best players in the world if he was English (ok, a bit Ivorian as well) You may think i'm being deluded but he has been ridiculous this season making defenders that have previously been in the Premiership look very average. It's not a coincidence that the media and people in the know are talking about him. All i'm saying is look beyond your hatred for us and cheer him on as an England player because it would be a real shame if he played for The Ivory coast and not us (England) I honestly believe after watching most of the games he's been in this season he can be world class and help England in their pursuit of major tournament success. Let the hate begin *hides under a table*

We all know what he's capable of BUT as a palace fan yourself, you've got to admit his attitude is shocking, thinking only Messi and Ronaldo are better than him is ridiculous to say the least.

Of course it'd be great if he turned out to be world class, but he's getting way ahead of himself.
