So was there nobody in these 50 homes or has he kicked them out?

Exactly my thought so I clicked through to read more - something about renting them out to those travelling on business, so, presumably, AirBnB or similar short-term rentals - a market that now doesn't exist.

It's irrelevant though - it's a very decent gesture that he didn't need to do.

Thanks for checking. Yes, I agree, still a good thing to do

Well that’s annoying. It was much easier to dislike him when he was a pantomime villain.

That’s a great gesture, whichever way you look at it. Fair play.

Churlish. He didn’t have to do it, and he’s no Robbie Fowler (in either a football or landlording sense). If I earned 130k a week I’d expect to have a bloody good portfolio of something.

There’s nothing negative here IMO (annoying as it is, obviously, to say so)

Yep, a good deed is a good deed. This crisis goes beyond petty rivalries and he is a very decent chap in my view now.

Credit for the gesture apart, does an area like Croydon really need 50 houses for business travellers or am I putting to much emphasis on business and not enough on travellers!!!

I think it was a great gesture and yes its on social media but let's see if other players and former players do similar.

You do realise Croydon is only about 7 miles from central London and on the main line to Gatwick. It also
Has major insurance companies and the home office as well as a huge shopping hub. So no real need for that silly comment.

Much as I applaud Zaha for doing his bit in the current situation, I think that the underlying point may be: Do we want to be the kind of society where a shortage of affordable housing for low paid people, who may be working in essential services, goes hand in hand with houses being built for the exclusive use of business travelers? Drew's comment was obviously a gag, but maximising profit above all other considerations is turning more and more of London into a sleeper city for the exclusive use of the super rich. This is happening to the detriment of the community which supports Palace and which has provided them with so much raw talent over the last few decades, Zaha included.

Well done Wilf. You may be an irritating twunt on the pitch (and annoyingly decent player tbf) but that is a class act. Hope other players follow suit and help where they can.
