I don’t do any social media as it’s a complete wankfest full of falseness, anxiety breeding and Willy waving, so I’m ok. Tbh you’ve just made a classic social media generation opinion - it’s all about likes and engagement rather than the actual facts - not for me Clive

You might not 'do' social media, but you quoted that post with the twitter link and then commented about the thread that followed it. So which is it?

I'm not quite sure what a 'social media generation opinion' is, but it's clear that if you are in charge of social media in an organisation, one of the key tasks is to attract people to your 'brand' by generating likes, shares, follows and all that bollocks. Hence why the person who is in charge of it at the Albion is doing a pretty good job of it.

By the way, good luck in getting actual 'facts' from other forms of media or – for that matter – this place! Social media is what it is – I take it ALL with a pinch of salt.

The thing is that we now have a replacement for Yves in Mwepu. If Yves does look to run down his contract this year his value will probably fall a bit. What would it be next year? £30m with just a year left on his contract. We might also be open to offers in January especially if Yves is the type of player that a big club needs at this point.
Or he signs a new contract and starts to earn a fair market value for his abilities now with the agreement that we will let him go if an offer comes in that meets our valuation. Selling White has shifted the dynamic in that we now don’t need to sell. It’s then up to Yves.
I’m really not sure how this one will pan out but are we in a poor position with him? No, we aren’t.
Personally I’d love him to stay another year.

I suspect his value would fall considerably with just one year on his contract.

At his age he would still be a good option for free the following season.
Biss would probably be looking to pick up a hefty signing on fee, which would cover the 2 years lost earnings.

The thing with White is there was a lot of reasonable press talk / speculation early on. With Biss there has been nothing since the end of last season has there? I suspect Tony will take the same stance as always - he has a valuation on a player and if it is met he will let the player talk if they want to, but if not no problem.

Does seem like Biss needs quite a lot of work / help to settle in etc, so perhaps he is best off taking an improved contract and developing further in surroundings he knows and see where he goes. Except for injury or a terrible season I can't see how he goes backwards, unless self inflicted

I'm sure the club have considered all this, but I can't see the logic of Biss staying and the possible arrival of Phillips. Surely with Mwepu, Caicedo, Lallana, Moder and Gross in the building, keeping Bissouma only creates selection problems? And paying out 30 percent of the funds reportedly coming in from the White deal on a defender who looks no better than, say, Leon Balogun seems financially barmy as well as closing off an opening that had appeared for Ostigard, Roberts and our other promising defenders. As for Livramento possibly coming from Chelsea in the same position as Lamptey, I don't see the logic at all - unless that hamstring is worrying them more than anyone knows.

If keeping our best midfielder creates selection problems, then great. Competition for places is vital, plus Moder and Gross will get game time on account of their versatility.

I also don't think the Livramento one is that weird either. I don't know why we shy away from building proper strength in depth. It's about more that just strength in depth. Lamptey is 20 and a couple of years ahead of Livramento in terms of his development. The question would be around what appeals to him. Is it first team football or a realistic pathway to the first team? Look at last season, everyone thought signing Veltman was weird (there were Ostigard calls then too), then Dunk gets suspended, Webster gets injured, Lamptey gets injured and suddenly he's the signing of the summer.

Added to that, if Lamptey picks up where he left off, we won't be able to resist the humongous bids that will be coming in. Having Livramento ready to take over makes perfect sense.

I think a few get overly aggravated by Twitter, Social Media links. A lot of it is gossip sure, but a lot of it does end up being breaking news.

If anyone’s bothered by this, it’s probably worth only waiting for official club announcements on signings. Because fans will speculate, whether that’s here on NSC, or Twitter or wherever.

Adding to that it also smart business to buy possible replacements when you're not in a position of necessity, thus not getting held to ransom and getting your deal over the line.

This works with Biss and possible replacement Mwepu.

And if we are to sell BW i wouldn't be surprised if we bought Nat before we sold BW again getting a better price.

Personally think Lamptey has some way to go. Many will be worried about the injuries in a player of that type and defensively he has some way to improve from what we saw

People cite Sanchez as the main reason for our much improved defence in the 2nd half of the season, but I'm pretty sure Veltman coming in at RWB for quite a few games post-Lamptey's injury also made a difference (as much as we all love Tariq's attacking endeavour).

We had 5 CB's in the lineup for the latter part of the season, which definitely helped.

Good to see Yves in the training ground pictures today on the official website. Solly was on there too doing some running as well as Andone, Veltman, Tau, Connolly.
No sight of Caicedo. Maybe not yet back to full training after Copa America. Hopefully the injury isn’t bad.
Moder also on the pictures so I assume his minor knee injury is ok.
Welbeck and Mwepu look in great shape.

And buying a RB means Veltman becomes a CB, possibly first choice, which he couldn’t be for most of last season as he was playing RWB (which he’s good at, but not pacy enough to worry the oppo going forward). But other than that, no, no logic at all.

Bissouma is a more important player than White imo. Lets keep him for another year please! I always thought how frustrated he must be seeing all those missed chances (I'd like to think that his long range shots which can go anywhere are more in exasperation) when his play is pretty close to perfect in his position.

I'm sure if he has signed a new contract it will be announced at pretty much the same time as there is an article of the club website about White being sold.

So sometime next week possibly.
