I had an exchange with a certain Mr Henry Wilsons-Tackle about a great away day I had at Anfield a few years ago, despite the tonking we took on the park, in the Championship.
So this got me thinking about the worse. I've never worn colours away, just to avoid the hassle of the real idiots, and any physical stuff has been handbags, but my worse day has got to be that real tonking we took at Upton Park. For some reason I can't bring myself to remember whether it was 5 or 6, but I went up in a mini-posse of nice chaps expecting to come away with the three points. Everyone knows what a bunch of cûnts their fans are on a good day, but they excelled themselves after they game that day. We didn't even bother to get home before we had to have a proper gargle at Kings X, good company, great pub, but Jeez that big black cloud wouldn't shift.
Similar outings, anyone? ....leave out ultra stories, violence is ALWAYS a downer.
It was 0-6 I went to both as well. The West Ham game was over in the first half hour. An awful long way back to Paddington let alone Glawstershire.

Portsmouth 1972 is my worst , my last (almost),... theres a song in there somewhere , getting ambushed and beaten up on the train on the way down , bullied throughout and after the game , by scores of neanderthals on a sweltering hot day reckon we got more kicks than the team did !
Play up Pompey lol

Palace 5-0

only saving grace was getting out before they locked us in

Another notable one was Peterborough . . . . got so pissed I lost all the records I'd bought . . . .why we wentr record shopping before the match I don't know!

Yes. That was so grim I didn't speak for more than 24 hours. Not a word.

Andy......Johnson!
Andy!.....Johnson!!!
Will.........Tolivegone!
Will!........you get my drift

And the police afterwards. Nobbers. I was with my son and we were sent in the opposite direction to where we were parked, and had to do the old 'head down, whistle, nothing to do with me gov' as various turbo-shandied turd-charves ran about looking to see who wanted some or wot. Just....grim.

Obviously it has to be our friends up in Croydon for the 5-0 and all that went on after the game, but another away day that lives in the memories either late 80's or early 90's is the cup game away at Barnet where I can't even remember the result but I can definitely remember getting absolutely soaked in the uncovered away end singing about our Nigerian international we had on loan called Iffy someone.... there was a covered seating area holding around 100 fans but by the second half most of the soked Albion fans were squeezed into by passing seat tickets through the fences. Never been so soaked in all my life.

emeka ifejiagwa. I was there. I liked Barnet away back in the day.

There is a certain fellow on NSC who was responsible for the briefness the Nigerian stayed with us (and indeed the UK) :lolol:

Je suis ****ing rhino, indeed

Darlington 2 Brighton 0. On a miserable blowy day in 1997. That was a low point!

I was there, the wind was ridiculous.

Simon Fox played... yep, Simon Fox.

Ormerod was in goal, his kicking was always atrocious BUT on that day it defied all logic not to mention the laws of physics.

I once went to Walsall away in what is now the JPT trophy as I was in the area without any mates. There were less than 100 Albion fans there and there weren't many Walsall ones either. If covid had been about, we'd have had no hope of catching it. I know the numbers as I counted our fans rather than watched the football due to the complete shithouse game that played out on the pitch (if memory serves it was 82 fans) We lost 5-0.

It's a running theme there. I remember being 3-0 down in a 20 odd minutes as David Livermore (I think) was played out of position at full back and gave one of the worst performances I've seen in that position. I felt like I earned Bennetts goal when we got promoted up there.

I don't think anyone who was at the Palace 5-0 disaster could possibly ever have any other game as their worst?

From the second we conceded the first goal until the end of the night when I eventually got back to Hertfordshire, it was PANTS.

Particularly low-light was being kept in forever, then escorted to (I think?) Norwood Junction station. Got home HOURS after the game finished.

Have boycotted Selhurst every since, still scarred from that truly ridiculous day

My first away game with the Albion, Pompey outside the fratton pub seemed to be surprised that Brighton ran so easy. Sat in the pompey seats courtesy of comp tickets from a Portsmouth player.

Preston away 87,88? Cold, raining, plastic pitch, Curbishly goal disallowed and we lost 0-3. On top of that Crispies kept singing 'we will win' right up to the final whistle. Then to top the day off, we were beaten up on the way back to the station.

Classic 80's day out!

Worst thing about reading other peoples experiences here is how many of the games mentioned I was at. What a wasted life :lolol:

So true!!! Whether it was a heavy defeat away at Carlisle, being witness to the totally embarrassment of d1ckhead pissed fans at Southend, the debacle at Canvey Island, etc. etc!! All pants days out

Another 'special' for me was a defeat away at Wigan, maybe 20plus years ago?? 2-0 down early, thinking the day is over and I've still got a 5 hour journey home

Thats the fella, do prey tell us more.....

One of our NSC colleagues, in his official capacity via his employment responsibility, had a leading role in the process that resulted in our sensational new striker being booted out of the country.

He has fessed up on NSC previously but I'm not a snitch*, so mum's the word

*unless I really want to be, of course :lolol:
