The Hereford one was far too nerve wracking for me to go completely batshit mental. I was up in the seats and yeah, I went a bit bananas when we scored, but the pressure was still too much to lose it completely.

This and at the end it was just tremendous relief, wandered away at the end, Hereford fans desolate felt slightly sorry for them, look where they are now. There but for the grace of Robbie.

Has to be Hereford. I literally started seeing stars when that went in, and felt like I was on the point of blacking out. Completely and utterly lost my shit.

Me too. I've never felt euphoria like that before or since. It was almost an out-of-body experience. Getting tingles just thinking about it. If I celebrated a goal like that now - even a tenth of the excitement - I'd have a heart attack!

When we came back to 3-3, after being 3-0 down, at 'home' to Colchester on Boxing Day. I'd broken my collar bone drunkenly falling off a lorry a week before.

I forgot about my injury and raised my affected limb when Emblen scored, to be reminded very quickly about the looseness in my shoulder area. I squealed like a little piggy and the lad behind me thought I'd injured myself celebrating the goal. Obviously, I always carry a sling around.

Paul Dickov's volleyed winner against Plymouth had me in hysterics. I sprinted toward the pitch and, by the time i'd gotten there, i'd become almost entirely disrobed, my garments each catching on the seats i clambered over. By the time i held Dickov, i was merely in a Seagulls thong and i love Satan socks. In spite of that ghastly nudity, he held me for an uncomfortably long time, looking up at my damp, round face, and seeming to gleefully wonder about the hot dog sauces remaining on my lips.

Bramall Lane '89 as a teen when Paul Wood (I think) made it 4-3 after being 3-0 down - may have jumped on a bobby in delirium. There was a fair amount of space on the terrace to go bat shit crazy to be fair. Yes we lost 5-4

Ulloa at Forest away last day of the season few years back.

I'd visited some mates at Nottingham Trent the night before, had about an hour sleep and was horribly hungover.

Bring on the 94th minute winner and I celebrated so hard I dehydrated myself and had to have a sit down when everyone around me was singing away to avoid passing out.

It would have been a goal during our first season playing at pissfilled. Although I was over 40 by then, I'd never been an animated supporter. Something changed. Games had started to get to me. I can remember after more than one vital goal (but not too many more than one...because there weren't) a rush of blood to the head, and me tearing up and down the stairs in the middle of the Gordon Road stand, bellowing like an oaf, eyes bulging, heart rate 120, then having to search for my hat that had been flung skyward. Bozza has a photo of me in that hat somewhere (was published in Scars and Stripes). I have no idea what that goal was, but back then, any goal was of vital importance as we were much much shitter than the season before when we survived on the last day. We were so shit that completing three passes at some point during a game was unusually good. Geoff Minton was a virtual Pele compared with the other statues. After that I started a period of determined away following. Always the same faces appeared, at Mansfield, Chester, Rotherham, Tranmere, Carlisle, Exeter, Torquay, Hull, Wrexham etc. And yes, it was PotG. The trudge round the country of the grimly determined.

I'm the opposite of a glory hunter. I am highly attuned to what might go wrong (having courted disaster as Brighton supporters and in my wider life), and my first objective always is to feel secure, so I would always let rip more when we've staved off disaster than when we get a bit of glory. I enjoy glory - but it makes me feel serene. It will be a long time before I ever lose my shit again like I lost it at Gillingham.

What an excellent post. Thank you.

Dunno. Couldn’t have been during the Poyet years. I don’t think I ever saw one from a Brighton player. It was probably Wilkins v Ipswich, or Renault at Hereford.

1. The disallowed goal at Reading (Paul Brooker?) 2002, on the way to beating them to the league. Late in the game too, 89th minute maybe?

2. McShane at Palace. Insane. And I was politely removed from the ground by police and stewards soon after.

3. Rotherham away, 2005. A game we had to win for any hope of staying up. No idea now who scored it, I’d had an absolute skinful on the way up! But ended up on the floor a few rows in front, bruised for days after.

Good thread, bringing back great memories.

Was that a 2-1 defeat over 25plus years ago at their old ground where you couldn't see the corner flag because of the building/supermarket in the way? Or another game you are referring to? All I remember is a bloody long trek up there on a coach and Albion fans have a pop at each other at halftime because we were so pants!!!

we got locked in for half an hour in the rain too

The winning goal at Anfield in ‘82/83 takes some beating. All Gerry Ryan’s winner at Forest to end their long unbeaten run.

Both felt unbelievable at the time.

God yes, I'd forgotten about that one. I remember someone in front of me (there was plenty of room!) literally on their knees praising the heavens when that one went in. Amazingly happy times considering everything.

Buckley against Donny for me.

Honourable mention to Jacob Butterfield's goal for Derby against Huddersfield - being on the North Stand concourse when that went in will live long in the memory.

Crystal Palace away last year when AK scored went down 6 flights of steps without putting my feet down. It was like being teleported back 45 years .....

Palace last season was ridiculous and slightly dangerous

Toppled down about 20 rows and ended up at the bottom of a pile on the stairs

Loved it.

Also mentions for Swindon and Forest
