Tricky to narrow it to three TBH but (in no order) possibly :

Goodfellas
Full Metal Jacket
An Officer and a Gentleman

But this leaves out Saving Private Ryan, Godfather, Shawshank etc etc............

Probably working!
That's one of those films that I've always been meaning to watch, but never get round to it.

My top 3 - which has been pretty much consistent in the last 9-10 years:

The Departed
Good Will Hunting
The Basketball Diaries

No prizes for guessing you favourite actor then?

Edit: I just remembered that Leonardo Di Caprio and Matt Damon are different people.
I got a bit confused for a second.

Anyway mine are:
Se7en.
Withnail & I.
Pulp Fiction.

Good choices.
Have you read the original book; The Beach?

No prizes for guessing you favourite actor then?

Good spot! I admit, I feel pretty embarrassed as I forgot Marky Mark was in The Basketball Diaries. not seen it in years!
But yeah, I guess he's up there, although he's made a few real clangers.

100% genuine coincidence that he's in all 3 films though!

When I saw that you were the last poster on this thread El Pres, I feared the worst, yet I had to know. I feel relieved at your choices.

The 'other' films you are thinking about are ones I watch purely for business, not pleasure.

Fargo is magnificent, I never tire of it. It stands up to repeated viewing because the dialogue and the performances are just stupendous. Very dark humour against a beautifully bleak backdrop. Get round to it chap, you won't regret it.

Half-way through 'Camp X-Ray' at the moment which is ok.
Next on the list is 'True Story', then I'll fit Fargo in at some point.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
Night of the Hunter (Laughton version, of course)
The Big Lebowski
Citizen Kane

Good choice for Night of the Hunter. One of those films in which you'd travel back in time to see, and then start a campaign for it be lauded and not poorly thought of, preventing Laughton from directing again.

I'd go for, off the top of my head and trying not to think of so many wonderful films:
The Third Man
The Conversation
A Separation

1) Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope – **** you if you don’t agree

Positions 2 and 3 today are taken up by Swingers and Gladiator which is a BOSS film.

My top 3 does vary dependent upon my mood, and what I'm looking for.
