So hard to call and could change by the day depending on mood. Today it’s something like this...

Sleuth
Withnail & I
Gattaca
Tampopo
Jaws
The Usual Suspects
Sleeper
Life of Brian
The Straight Story
Delicatessen
X+Y
Blade Runner 2049

...and if you asked again tomorrow I could probably give a different 12 entirely. Great thread already.

In time is ok not a bad film at all but for a brit film the present finding your feet is a very decent film, far better for me
I can't pick the bones out of this US. In Time isn't a British film. Or are you saying that a British film is better called "present finding your feet"? I am confused.

A very hastily compiled 12, but if any of these came on the box now, I wouldn't be able to turn it off........

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. - Favourite ever film
Rear Window - Favourite Hitchcock by a long long way.
Citizen Kane - Not just because it is a critic's favourite
Some Like it Hot - just love Tony Curtis's Cary Grant bit
Cabaret - great music and choreography and a fascinating historic background
The French Connection - Best car chase ever and Gene Hackman brilliant
The Producers (original version) - My own personal funniest film ever.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Very Clever and very funny at the same time
To Kill a Mockingbird - For Gregory Peck's voice, if nothing else.
Midnight Cowboy - first film that brought tears to my eyes, and Dustin Hoffman's best ever in my view.... and great music.
Gone With the Wind - went in to a cinema in 1975 to watch it, thinking I ought to have something to base my "it's sentimental garbage" judgement on, and it wasn't.
Arsenic and Old Lace (original Alec Guinness version) - Alec Guinness possibly my favourite ever actor.

brighton, actually
In Time?

I don't normally slag off other people's film choices as it's so subjective. But In Time?!

I remember watching it. I do. Because it's possibly the worst film I've ever seen. The concept was great, everything else about it was truly terrible. Plot, acting, storyline (hey, great concept let's not have a clue what to do with it). So so excruciatingly bad which is why I remember it so well.

And I usually like Timberlake as well.

I thought it was an interesting take on life, in the not too distant future.. first time i'd seen JT in an acting role.

Saw Finding Your Feet last week - Excellent stuff. Avoids being too schmaltzy and with some very good performances from some fine actors. I thought Timothy Spall was superb - a fine actor.

I've spoken to a number of people whose opinions I would respect over the last few days who would agree enormously.

The whole cast were excellent imo. Really loved this film. Put in the " very underrated " draw

There have been some wonderful films this year. The Shape of Water which is really in a different orbit to anything else, three billboards which was superb with magnificent acting, darkest hour with one of the finest acting performances for a long time, the post which was great after a slow start, phantom thread which was weird but another tour de force from day lewis, and finding your feet a really fantastic film. What a start ! All of them are an 8 or more

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Empire Strikes Back
Blade Runner
Star Wars
Return of the Jedi
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
The Terminator
E.T
Jaws
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
The Outsiders
The Big Lebowski

I do like modern films too but nostalgia always makes me favour the ones I grew up watching.
