To lose 2 stone in weight in the first six months and walk half an hour a day. I've done it before so there is no reason why I can't do it again

2024 was a tough, tough year for me.

I want to make sure I spend 2025 focusing on enjoying things in life, and trying to concentrate on what matters rather than focusing on what doesn’t matter. Minimising unnecessary stress is the key.

Also, I want a single figure handicap again.

I'm not seeing 'Bin off NSC' on that list!

Never usually make resolutions but this year I am.

Recently had a health check mot and that showed up hypertension and my cholesterol is waaaay too high.

I have my first (step) grandchild due in April so am now determined to knock the fags on the head once and for all, start doing some sort of exercise (I’m a couch potato) and start looking after myself properly.

I turn 60 in February and want to enjoy my grandson.

Regarding NSC, be nicer to other posters. I started this two years ago but still feel there’s some room for improvement. Puns and shit dad jokes (and boastful meals) is the way to go.

I agree, but unfortunately it winds me up so much I'm actually thinking I'll swerve NSC and all social media for a while, getting wound up by the attention seeking patronising know it all loons is starting to grind..

I'll start tomorrow methinks... :ROFLMAO:

Usual stuff. Lose some weight but more importantly try to sort out lower back pain
I had lower back pain last year. I've had scans, physio, and orthopaedic insoles to sort out twisted pelvis, but the thing that has done most to get rid of the pain is regular stretches.

Lower back pain is often linked to issues with the sciatic nerve. There are several different causes and it's important to understand what is causing your pain before trying to fix it. If you can get an MRI then talk to a sports physio that's probably the best route to getting the right stretches for your condition.

Good luck.

Keeping out of the political threads will go some way to achieving those goals, for me at least

All things considered, I prefer to stay on social media , but outside of NSC I only use Facebook and Insta to follow bands, acts and restaurants. NSC itself, has a lot to offer and some threads are impossible to get into an argument on e.g. music and restaurants. Many are hugely supportive e.g. running, lose 7 lbs, mental health and most weeks there’s always something really diverse but enlightening and fascinating e.g. the Bob Grover thread. Most of the humor is right up my street as well, i love puns and dad jokes…a groan is as good as a laugh. Some posters are great to tease. It’s all good.

Happy new year.

I manage to rise above most of the shit and can 'ignore' certain posters without actually bothering to put them on ignore, if that makes sense.

I find that this sentiment helps:

Main one: to not smoke any weed before 21.00 in the evening.

I'm not smoking anywhere near as much as I did a couple of years ago (and barely had time smoking anything at all this autum/winter), but when I smoke, I smoke.

This summer I counted that on average I smoked away 8 summer days per month in May, June, July, August. BOOOOOO, was how I felt.

So rather than smoke a billion joints from morning to evening eight days a month, I'm switching over to smoking one or two evening ones maybe 14-16 days (not the main thing) a month instead.

The trouble with weed is it is a gateway to hard and addictive drugs like nicotine. Are you looking at this like alcohol usgae in the sense that you'd start thinking you had a problem if you had a Stella after breakfast? I hope it works out for you :smokin:
