He never complained about it so how do you know it was that big a deal to him?

Also, to say Wilkins treated him terribly by not giving him the number one shirt is a bit strong...he was hardly fining him, making him train on his own or throwing him off buses halfway down a motorway.

OGH, has been my favourite player for several years and I can't see any reason to change my opinion, although I had been faced with a difficult choice until very recently. Second favourite would probably be FDM, but that wasn't the question was it!

Because he wasn't given the Number 1 shirt, which I thought was very shabby indeed.

I can EXCLUSIVELY reveal that the reason why Dean Wilkins was sacked is that he caught in a compromising position with an inflatable doll SPORTING the Number 1 on the back, and whispering into it's ear 'Keeley, Keeley', and THAT is why FDM did not have the keepers jersey last season.

Being a professional journalist, I cannot of course reveal my source.

As many people have voted for Gart Hart as have backed Nicky Forster.

For me that shows the alarming way in which most Brighton fans seem to value work ethic above sheer quality and ability.

Nicky Forster is probably the most model pro I have ever seen play for the club, brilliant to watch, even when he is not getting on the end of things sticking the round thing in the net thing.

Encouraging everyone, giving one on one chats on the field, running his nuts off, as well as being a great striker. Top top player, my 3rd favourite at the club me thinks

...why is it so alarming to value a player who never gives less than 110% and gives the impression that he would willingly die for his team-mates (not that I am saying Nicky Forster doesn't), those are all too rare qualities in most walks of life.

Willing to die for his team-mates? Bit over the top.

Also, passion is one thing. Getting sent off minutes after coming on because you are so fired up is another...

But you are not a footballer.

Also, you like to argue with me for the SAKE of it...

That aside, the point I am making is the majority of fans seem to LOVE the people who run around like a headless chicken, get booked for over-eagerness in the tackle but look like they would 'run through brick walls for the albion'.

Whereas players who show a bit of skill which might actually win a game are SLATED as lazy, good for nothing big time charlies.

And as Mendoza pointed out, if anything Nicky Forster not only has real ability which we are lucky to have in the team, but also displays everything you expect from a model pro. I therefore can't understand how Hart is as popular.

...maybe that is an exaggeration, but he is certainly different from former players like CKR who wandered around the pitch and generally gave the impression that they couldn't be arsed and would rather be somewhere else.

Slightly different context though - Hart's played a decade and joined/was good when we were SHIT.

Forster has played 1 year and was decent when we were DULL.

If Forster was here 10 years, he'd be much more popular.

It's MURRAY who's the best example - he doesn't run around like Revell, so people jeer him at games. Yet "oh Revelldinho" can't put a foot wrong despite being woeful more often than not!

Hart has never exactly SHONE though has he?

I do agree though a comparison with Murray is better. The abuse he gets HURLED at him at Withdean is a JOKE.

but CKR could smash in a 20 yard screamer or rescue a point in the last minute out of nothing

EXACTLY.

But I guess he didn't chase enough hopeless through balls for most fans liking...

I think most Brighton fans, given the choice, would have rather signed David Batty than Matt Le Tissier.

1. Agreed, but so what?
2. Nope, but you do post some inflammatory stuff and appear to have a foundless vendetta against Dick Knight. I don't share your views, that is all.
3. Peter Ward, Mark Lawrenson, Bobby Zamora and Garry Nelson are all examples of the latter type of players who seemed quite popular. As for the majority of fans comment, what evidence do you have to back this up, or is it just journalistic licence to say so?

I do agree with everyone his attitude stank, and may well have had a bad affect on team morale, but he was some player, and I guess proved that by starring in a couple of European Championship games, and being touted around for £millions

Agreed, not arguing with you on this one. Some of the comments about him have me scratching my head.

His biggest fault for me is that he strays offside too often, but as a centre forward I want to see him in the box, not chasing down full backs, anyone who ever saw Peter Ward play knew that he would go 90 minutes without getting his shorts dirty.

Well the thirty minutes are almost up Swindon fans but your not there yet. in it goes (yyyyyyeeeessssssss) ooohhh its gone in, Brighton in added on time have snatched a goal through Virgo!!! Incredible!! Once again there is late, late, late drama in the playoffs!!
