how do you mean treated appaulingly? making him play EVERY minute of EVERY game last season, and the only manager to have him as first choice keeper. I know he wasnt given the number 1 shirt, but have I missed something?

Wilkins was the opposite of The Complete Badger in terms of admitting how well Michel performed....

I was wondering the exact same thing.

Quite a few other managers would have probably given Sullivan the odd game, especially away to Bristol Rovers or in the Johnston Paint. Wilkins however backed Kuipers in every single game and, unlike most other recent managers, did not see the need to put pressure on him by getting a loan signing in.

I don't see how Kuipers can have a single thing to moan about.

Anyone voting Fraser needs their head checked.

this is for my favourite, not best albion player

I just love his passion and love of the club, especially how he always tries to get the crowd into it (even when he is just a substitute warming up on the side of the pitch). An above poster stated they would consider fraser but he plays poor on the wing, I was simply saying that I agree and that I do think he can play well in the center of the pitch. Even the NOTW agrees with me! :ascarf:

Does a senior experience pro NEED praising at length in the press? I would have thought being picked for every single minute of every single game showed the manager had faith in him and was pleased with his performance.

He tried to deny Kuipers making a positive contribution to any game - even where he was OUTSTANDING!

But sorry, I forgot, Wilkins was perfect, because he spoke to the fans at Chesterfield.....:jester:

Michel because of his loyalty and total professionalism when treated appallingly by Wilkins last season.

Have you been drinking - Wilkins played him all season - magee was the one that changed the number - numbers don't mean anything - tommy elephick is 24 and is quality and was played

Because he wasn't given the Number 1 shirt, which I thought was very shabby indeed.

Like downgrading your Job Title for no reason other than pettiness.

The game that sticks in my mind was Forest away when Michel was at his breathtaking best, yet Wilkins DISMISSED his contribution on the radio afterwards. Cock.

I answer the phone all day and deal with complaints - my team manager dosen't praise me - i'm doing my job - thats what i am paid to do

:D he did that with all the players though, even when they played match winning/saving parts. We all know Kuipers is brilliant, and thats why he was playing every game, and was voted 3rd best player of the season by the fans.

Yes that Wilkins moment was good, it didnt make him good enough to be Albion manager

McGHEE did actually have a number one though, Wilkins just left it blank which was a bit pathetic.

Think it matters from a Keepers point of view but not really on any other part of the pitch.

What a load of BALONEY.

If that hurt his pride so much he needs to grow up.

Playing every minute of every game is all the feedback you need to tell you you are doing a good job.

Do you not think you might work better if now and again the quality of your work was acknowledged?

I don't recall Michel moaning about it, he just got on with it. No need to grow up at all.

That is why I put IF.

I don't recall him moaning about it either but plenty of people on here have moaned about it. I was just saying if that was an issue for him then something is very wrong.

I think the No 1 jersey means a lot to a goalkeeper. When the team was announced at the Charlton game it was all "back in the No. 1 jersey *big cheer* Michel Kuipers". There was no reason to take it away yet Michel never complained about it and just got on with the job.
