Following on from the other threads.

What is the most over-rated, over-hyped, unimpressive landmark in the world?

For me it is this. In the middle of nowhere, you cant get on it, and at the end of the day, it's a f***ing rock. What is so special about that? Another example of Australia being the most over-rated country in the world, with it's whopping 5 must-see highlights for a country the size of Europe.

Mannequin Pis. Utterly underwhelming, and yet remains on the 'must see' list of any trip to Brussels.

Good call. I thought it was going to be about 20 ft high for some reason.

Stone Henge. Compared to other ancient wonders it simply isn't that great.

Sydney Opera House. A unique looking building, but then there are millions of unique looking buildings in the world. I don't understand the hype and why it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Agreed. Stonehenge is impressive when you think about it, but not as impressive as loads of other landmarks.

And yes, Sydney Opera House is unique. But so are lots of things. If it was built in Dubai today people would say it was a monstrosity and lacked class.

I think you're misunderstanding the thread here, I don't think anyone has ever suggested that thing to be a world landmark!

i think the point about Stone Henge is how the f*** did they build it when they did and with the materials from so far away.

The Brandenburg gate in Berlin seems to have a bank next to it now. Not keen.

Mot sure its a world landmark as such, but there's a touted tourist attration on Lanzarote grandly called The Salt Pans Of Janubio.

Its big puddles of salt water. Evaporating.

Good call - other than the public rooms it is absolutely falling apart inside.

I would add the Pyramids to the list - incredibly impressive but now located in a Cairo slum and infested with peddlers of tat and rip-off merchants

And along the same lines, the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen harbour. I don't see why anyone would waste their time looking for it, in what is a fine city. And the chances are that you won't find it even if you look for it, anyway.
