Still in Brighton
I have slowed down a lot with gigs. I get to a few a year but saw some great bands in the 90’s and 00’s mainly. I have lost my passion for music but I still like a live gig. Anyway, off the top of my head;

Pearl Jam
Soundgarden
Audio Slave
RATM
Stone Temple Pilots
The Lemonheads
Blind Melon
Sonic Youth
The Melvins
The Meat Puppets
Lou Reid
Iggy Pop
Blondie
Foo Fighters
Velvet Revolver
Beastie Boys
Chili Peppers
Faith No More
House Of Pain
Cypress Hill
Ice T
NWA
Rollins Band
Prodigy
Pixies
Alice In Chains
Tom Waits
Nick Cave
Fun Lovin Criminals
Flaming Lips
LCD Soundsystem
Giant Sand
Black Flag
Soul Fly
Areosmith
ACDC
Iron Maiden
Rammstein
Fugazi
Slayer
Metallica
Jane’s Addiction
Deep Purple
Gorrilaz.

And many more.

Out of all those, only Chili Peppers were shit. Shockingly bad on both occasions. Oh and I didn’t rate Aerosmith much either.

Last ones I enjoyed recently were Nordic Giants and Hooray For The Riff Raff. Both on Brighton.
Agree with you in part, not lost my passion for music but slowed down a lot due to losing my best gig buddie to suicide and then the tinitus restricting me later on, plus just getting older. Being ill and in bed this week and compiling my list, with venues and dates, has been very therapeutic for me tbf. Lots of googling. Saw some great bands and have had some great times. 90s and 00s were good for gigging. Guilded Palace of Sin were a fantastic duo (?) putting on gigs in Brighton, they left a great legacy imo.

And Tom Waits ! Where did you see him? he's v rarely been to the UK. I got two tickets for his London show and then for the one and only time put em on eBay to pay for Glastonbury and all the extras that year (obviously sold at a huge mark up,to a lad who was surprisingly grateful to pay such an amount). Of course, I thought "I can see him again sometime" and ......haven't. Sometimes regret it sometimes remind myself that Glastonbury that year was a good un.

Seen the Chilis a couple of times (Lollapalooza 92 in New Orleans) they're messy live and Keidis cannot sing live for toffee...but they're always fun.

Mine was The Cure at (what was then) Hammersmith Odeon in 1983 as a 13yo. I went to see The Psychedelic Furs a few weeks later and was stood a few seats along from Bob and Mary.
The only time I've seen Radiohead was on the OK Computer tour, and saw Elliott Smith three times, and Neil Young a couple of times. Breeders and PJ Harvey at Glastonbury worth a mention too.
But the main reason for responding directly is I miss all those three venues. Saw a very young Black Keys at Pressure Point, lots of Gilded Palace of Sin gigs at Hanbury Ballroom, and so much great stu f at The Freebutt -- was very fond of a local band called Charlottefileld.
Indeed. I saw Elbow at the PP in 2001. And those boys doing Gilded Palace....local legends. Midlake at Hanbury Ballroom a top 5 gig for me. They really should turn that place back into a gig venue but I guess there's no big money in it.

Worst were Deacon Blue. Only one song that anyone knows and the audience made up of 60 yr old Weegies who’d been on the lash since 10am.

The worst crowd. With some of the ugliest women I’ve ever seen. And I live in Lancing.
Bloody glad you've just said you live in Lancing!! I was in a YouTube music rabbit hole earlier & found myself singing?? along to 'Dignity'. I just had a minor panic that you were one of my neighbours. I can only say I'm not 60. 😁

Not sure if the same gig, I went in 1989, remember me and my mate listening to Disintegration by The Cure in the car on the journey down
That sounds about right, The Cure and Erasure are an interesting mix :)

JesusH you've just reminded me that my parents took me to this as a 6 year old (1978). So, officially my first gig. Interestingly, they did a version of Dirty Old Town (obviously famously covered by the Pogues) I used to like.
Yes, I thought they had covered that. They used to have a weekly TV show on the BBC I think, and were pretty popular at the time.

Brighton Top Rank Ballroom .. I saw The Kinks. Prior to that I had seen a few lesser known bands at the Florida Rooms. That became my regular haunt in the 60’s .
The best venue I went to was the 02 London for a Bob Dylan concert. I actually preferred small gigs to seeing big famous bands.
Small gigs, deffo best.

I have to say that I would hate to have been stuck behind you at a gig

The Members at the Top Rank
Wow.

We were acquaintances of Chris the bassist. He used to hang out at the Nashville on North End Road on the late 70s.
I first saw the Members when Nicky Tesco was a shy retiring singer.
I told Chris he needs to tell him to pull his socks up.
I saw them later at the Marquee and they were magnificent.

So they owe their career to me.
Fact.

Only Tender Love is a magnificent track. I am about to pop it on best track of the day.
