No surprises from me - The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society.
Bought it when it came out and played it to death. Whilst it has become a cult album over the years, it did nothing at the time - I couldn’t believe it. It’s a nostalgic tale of times gone by and everyday countryfolk.

You have a better memory than me, I know it was Dec 85 as still have the ticket, £6.50, those were the days.
And a band called Beltane Fire were support!

For some reason my memory is good on this.

I was never particularly a fan of Madness. I bought a few singles when I was a kid and could get why they were popular but that album really landed with me.

It was on an iPod behind the bar in 'The Cooper's Cask' in Hove when I worked there and listened to it dozens of times. Initially as 'suitable pub music' but as time went on it really grew on me and is now one of my favourite albums of 2009.
Yes - I bought that 2009 album after reading reviews of it - and it was magnificent. Since then I've bought each of their albums (but none earlier) and not found them as good (though Can't Touch Us Now was pretty good too).

I saw Suggs on one of his spoken-word tours and he was good fun, even if does support Chelsea.

The Who Sell Out was brilliant but probably of it’s time and no longer relevant

The Defamation of Strickland Banks by Plan B is a quite wonderful concept album.

As is A Grand Don’t Come For Free by The Streets.

Lots of crackers on here. I'm rather fond of this piece of 70s prog - a treat for fans of harmonised guitar lines ...

Also sham 69 That’s Life. Surely totally uniqie? Great songs and the bits in between are now comedy gold but were actually pretty familiar at the time!
