West is BEST
A very fair assessment by you, as I remember you’d said previously that Laurel & Hardy weren’t your thing. Which conversely, definitely helped my love of the movie.

Coogan, as a result of numerous attempts to break the States, has chosen some very odd parts in films and has the most bizarre back catalogue of obscure American straight to DVD stinkers . His role opposite Richard Gere in The Dinner (no I hadn’t either) is abysmal. However, when he gets it right, he gets it spectacularly right. 24 Hour Party People, Philomena, and his performance in S&O of course .

This time it reminded me of Anthony Hopkins performance as C.S.Lewis in Shadowlands. So sensitive, a tear jerker every time.

Burgess Hill
Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting.
Tom Hanks in anything he does.
Denzil Washington in any of his films. Especially Flight.

Not going to rate it as best ever but Stallone in rocky was excellent

My vote goes to Dustin Hoffmann in midnight cowboy

I've not read through everything on this thread but Dustin Hoffmans role in rain man is something special

Post the video let us be the judges :lolol:

I realize now that the comment I made was in August 2018 and the wedding was in 2012 (actually 12/12/2012 on a Wednesday). I think my sister has the video and might have left it in Chicago. She was married in Hartlepool but moved to Chicago for several years before moving to Stockton-on-Tees in 2016.

Having read the thread title carefully I can honestly say I have never acted in a film. Best I can do was 3rd sheep in nativity play when I was 4. According to the Eastbourne Heralds review my performance was " wooden and and failed to garner empathy " from the viewer

James McAvoy in the film Split was fantastic. How he switched between characters was flawless.

Worthing
This is a pointless thread. Just watch Jack Nicholson in ‘One flew over the cuckoo’s nest’.

Nothing has ever come close has it. I watched both The Last Detail and Five Easy Pieces again recently and you could see the brilliance but when the right vehicle came along............ never to be beaten imo.
