Just checked the fixtures and we (The Boards) are playing Udimore away on May 19th. As our first foray into Div 6 cricket i'm not totally sure where it is.

Anyone fancy a game for us who are an Eastbourne based side? It could be a make or break season for us as we are now an aging team and we have lost our two star players and have had to drop from Div 3 to Div 6. We would particularly welcome any youngsters who want a game at a reasonable standard on a decent pitch.

Interested PM me

John wa sprobably the best batsman i ever bowled against. in the years I played against patcham for Kemp Town/ Brighton and Hove, I can honestly say I never thought I ever really had him in trouble.

I once hit a hundred against patcham just after the bypass had gone through Horsedean. It wa sthe only time we beat Patcham...used to really enjoy playing against you guys though.

Hans, did you play in the same team as Ivor caplin then. I went onthe tour down to the west country as a guest where he hit 4 hundreds I think it was

Yes, I played alongside Ivor, for a year or two, not just for Priory either, but also for Mid-Sussex, who played Wednesday afternoon fixtures at Convent Fields in Lewes. Good Player in his day.

What tour did you do - the Priory one, staying in Moonfleet?

Dave, when did you leave Kemp Town? Do you still see anyone who played there in the mid-eighties?

To answer the original question ... Udimore is on the road between Broad Oak and Rye on the B2089. The entrance to the cricket ground is 100 yards or so after the King's Head pub on the right if you're going towards Rye.
Very pretty ground, particularly when the apple trees are in blossom.

I'm new to adult club cricket, and I have played for St Peters 3rds last year. I'm pretty sure Lewis St Michaels are in the same league system as us as I played against them for my colt club, St Matthias. Do you have any idea what division you'll be playing in this season? Should be on here - http://www.escl.org.uk/

We got relegated last season even though we had the runaway, unbeaten league leaders about 50 - 5 with a guest, ex-U19 zimbabwaen bowler taking 3 wickets. The weather had to intervene didn't it  .

Anyway, we will be playing in division 10 this season, anyone else taking their game to this low level?

PS. Dave - Do you know a Mr Harkin, he is the U14 coach there and he's a teacher at my school. Absolute legend

Well, I've just had a look at the divisions and it seems that Lewes St Michaels III are in the same division as us. Do you know whether you will be playing for the 3rds this year Dave?

Hmm I have a vague recollection. Unfortunately Benters (James) is off to play for Heathfield and i can't blame him as his bowling and batting would be too good for most Div 6 players. With his and Terry Penfold's departure we will struggle to bowl teams out and the batting could go either way.

If you played for KT DTG did you play against us at whitehawk one year when he got hit on the head from a riser

sorry just saw this......I have a feeling that may have been me.

I remember we used to play a touring team from Kent every year and I was getting smacked about by this black opener...anyway, I dug one in that he totally missed and I hit him flush on the nose. 5 seconds later he was covered in blood rolling about on the wicket.....our umpire shouted in a loud voice," oi, stop rolling on the f***ing pitch"

One of your guys, Steve Bristow/burstow...something like that and I played for a team one afternoon that had sarah (?) the deaf girl who played for England and St Peter's playing for us.

Steve and I put on about 100odd and he got out and sarah came in...it was very interesting batting with her as she was constantly looking at you to see if you were trying to say something to her.....she had one of the best actions of a bowler i have seen - very much like Sir Richard hadlee.
