Unless there is a court case pending is not M/V innocent until proven guilty ?

Doesn’t work like that anymore I’m afraid.

But Australian cricketers are in outrage about the way their erstwhile ( married with kids) captain was treated by the authorities after sending a dickpic.

It’s a funny old world.

I actually think that Vaughan is an erudite and thoughtful cricket presenter who knows the game well.

But in cricket, there are dozens of really good presenters. It will be easy to get one without all the baggage. It's not like football, where 9/10 pundits are stupifyingly predictable.

The BBC don't need Vaughan.

He used to be that when he started.

He is a bit of a rent-a-gob these days.

After his comments previously about how Moeen Ali should be combatting Islamist terrorism, maybe this will give Michael Vaughan the opportunity to go round all the white people and ask whether they’re extremists?

Aussie broadcaster still backing him, so he may very well do a Tony Grieg and end up other there permanently.

Remember old Tony?, he told Harry Carpenter on Sportsnight in 1976 he was going to make 11 black men grovel

Times have changed at the BBC clearly, they get banned from showing Carol Concerts now.

I think the opposite. He has the confidence and skill to construct arguments and give opinions in a way that no other TMS pundit can do. He’s easily the most entertaining summariser. Compared to Mark Ramprakash for example….

I went off Vaughan when he was slating one of the England team for no apparent reason on TMS and pushing someone who should take their place. It just so happened that the guy he was pushing had not scored that many runs but had just signed for the sports management agency Vaughan was involved with - chubby Chandler’s lot. I asked him on Twitter if this was a conflict of interest and got blocked. Good few years ago now and can’t remember who the two players were.

You're right, he should have been binned off years ago for this conflict of interest, using his TMS platform to push and promote the selection of players signed to his management company (not least James Vince) so I wont be shedding too many tears on his behalf

Vaughan has done an interview with the BBC.

Quite enlightening, in reference to racism, he talks about the world being very different only 3 years ago implying that what he had tweeted or said would not have been considered racist. I think he has been living in a bubble, a Yorkshire bubble.

My god that part of the Country (including nearby towns like Burnley) are so behind the rest of us.

DW: “Did you ever make any racist comments while at Yorkshire Cricket?”
MV: (immediately breaks eye contact, looks down) “No I didn’t, no, I’ve got to be honest...”

I heard snippets. So what was said then that would be 'unacceptable' now, but which nevetheless isn't racist because 'no racist language was used in the dressing room'?

I suspect, like many up north, he doesn't think that calling someone a P*** is racist.

He was happy to tweet something similar in 2010 but definitely didn’t say something like that out loud which three separate people remember? Yeah ok.

Maybe he should try it on TMS some time rather than the usual drivel he serves up

If you watch MV's interview with Dan Walker with the sound muted his body language and eye contact is very similar to that of Prince Andrew in the Emily Maitlis interview.
It's very brazen and is very much a case of 'this is just a massive misunderstanding and I can't believe you're asking me these questions'.

Each to their own.
I liked Geoffrey as well, for the most part.
In football I like Chris Sutton and Roy Keane.
Entertaining and opinionated, and usually justified.
We’re not going to be friends are we :lolol:

And no direct answer to the “are they lying?” Question.
It’s a tricky one.
There is a strong argument that he’s been punished by the BBC without much reliable evidence.
I have to say I’ve enjoyed Vaughan being brought down a peg or two as he is so smug, but (as usual) the BBC hasn’t handled it very well.
He is easily the best TMS summariser imo (many don’t agree) and the listener will be the loser. His close of play round-ups with Agnew are brilliant. The other summarisers tend to be style over substance. They seem afraid to say very much.

Not sure what the point of this interview was. If he was trying to save his job he may need a change in direction which is a shame as I quite liked listening to him.

We could have a good debate on pros and the cons of all four if we were. I don't mind opinionated,
