Yet another game without a goal for Barnes...

When Barnes misses, they are always either close misses, crossbars, posts or good saves.

He is certainly not a million miles away from being bang on, it's a team game anyway, and he is a team player, so I cannot fault him.

No but you don't ever fault anyone or anything do you. Were you one of the ones saying we should stick behind Archer and Belotti and support the lads when others were protesting?

Yep it's fine by me because I can put it down to him being unlucky, and not like those with shit tinted glasses.

Jesus, he must be the unluckiest player in the division. And there was me thinking he was the luckiest player in this division, any other striker with his goalscoring record this season would be warming the bench at best.

So sticking up for Barnes proves Symyjym was a Belloti and Archer fan ???

Ashley deserves a club whose supporters appreciate him. He has been a star performer for over three years for us; picked consistently by Gus and Oscar. His touch, his work rate and his commitment to the team, and the club is first rate, and his hold up play has improved tenfold since he first joined. He's versatile and is one of the best finishers at the club.

It's sad seeing so many people criticising him so severely every time we play; win, lose or draw. Yes he's not scored this season, but he's played very well and is a key part of our team especially with the injuries to Ulloa and CMS. I can't wait for him to bang in a hat-trick next week.

Keep up the good work Ashley, some of us can see what you do and appreciate you for it :)

Why does it even matter on a day when 3 other players scored in an away victory? Yes, strikers are predominantly assessed on their goals, but at the same time, you want to have forwards who contribute something tangible to the team when they are not scoring and no-one can accuse Barnes of lacking in work rate.

Only because CMS and Ullua are out. When all our players are back then Barnes will be on the bench and if he hasn't signed by January then I'd drop him and give some youngsters a go.

Good post and I totally agree. The bit you forgot to mention is even if he scored 30+ goals a season, the bell ends on here would still find fault

Ash played his socks off and was constantly fouled by a thug of a centre half who was never penalised. Hit the post with a superb curler which on another day would have been a great goal. First time Leroy is fouled the CH is booked and Spanish Dave scores.

The refs are probably wise to Barnes reputation as going down like a sack of spuds last year and think he hasn't changed his ways.

The main problem I see is despite Barnes hard work and application he isn't enough of a goal threat when played alone up front.

He isn't anywhere as near as good as the pro Barnes brigade claim, yet no where near as bad as the anti Barnes moaners.

It's fair to say he should be judged on goals, but not that alone. I do agree however if he doesn't sign a new contract pretty soon we should get rid in Jan.

I think a lot of people forget the amount of work he does off the ball for others in the team. Motm on Monday IMHO. There will always be those who hate him the same as last season those who started to slate CMS some people are never happy.

You're a fool.

No, just correct. My opinion of Barnes may or may not be correct. Now look at the stats, we tend to play a lone striker (through choice or not) , for all his starts Ashley ain't putting the ball in the net.

End.

He put in a shift this afternoon , he was being roughed up by the Donny centre half who got away with barges and knocks which the ref waved away or gave a free kick against us. When he curled the shot in I thought it was going wide until it smashed against the post. Its all about team-work and why we scored 3 goals , JFC with a rocket from 35 yards out , Lita with a stab in from 6 yards and an exquisite free kick from Spanish Dave.
