Yesterday's 'Slade in/Out' poll

Is significant in that, even at this time last year, there was a big majority in favour of Adams (54% in (68 votes), 29% out (36 votes) in a poll after the Hereford draw). In fact, todays figure for Slade (27% in (62) and 73% out (165)) were not matched by Adams until late December.

If Slade could only hang on for a few more weeks he could become the most unpopular manager we've ever had! It would certainly be the fastest fall from grace considering that only 6 months ago he was being carried off the field on the fans shoulders. Come on Russ, you know you can do it - just hang on until December!

Surely its too early for a Slade In/Out poll ?... maybe we should go to the electorate and have a poll about this ?

It is quite strange - it is a real minority who hate him and are abusing him though. It seems as though most as sad to see him fail.

Thing is, he is a likeable man and so it hard to feel much anger towards him, especially after he saved us last season.

However he is failing, when it's progress he should be making really.

I think we need to re-asssess what progress is and how quick we should expect it. It's dangerous to look for and expect quick fixes. It does happen, yes, but it will usually take time for a good side to be built and deadwood be jettisoned.

I'd be happy to give Slade this season to build a side, get a few more in, a few out and then judge him on next season.

But, I fear he will be gone by Christmas and we will be strating all over again, new faces in, a few faces out. More money wasted that we don't really have. The, if that doesn't work..... And so it goes on.

But it's a poll with just 200 odd votes. There were 6000 at Withdean yesterday, that's not what I would call a majority I'm afraid.

If MORI were polling about Tory or Labour preferences, they could predict next years General Election with those figures. In every poll there is an uncertainty factor that has to be built in, but these numbers are well outside that. Given that this board has a fair balance of opinion it doesn't matter who the audience are (or the size). It's the trends that are important.

I'm sorry but that is where your argument falls down. This board attracts idiots who come out the woodwork and revel in the clubs failure and are far more vocal and likely to vote in these endless repetitive polls than the quiter folk who aren't happy with how things are going but don't feel the need to post drivel after every match.

Over 250 votes is high for any sort of poll on this board and also shows the strength of feeling. I fully accept that there are a number of posters that only appear to cause disruption - but are there 100 of them? I would say that most opinion polls attract a number of these sorts and they are factored-out in the final reckoning. When you get a 2 to 1 ratio in favour of something then you have to take notice - it's not just a few anti's disrupting the outcome.

The problem isn't the number of people voting, it's more the time elapsed. After a loss there is an emotional response and more out votes will come, after a win, it works in reverse, people who were out will vote in on the belief that we've turned it around.

Give it a few days and the percentages will change.

The internet certainly seems to foster this demand for instant success, immediate changes if its not working out. We've had all kinds of bad seasons in the past, especially bad starts to seasons where we've lost 2 or 3 on the bounce, yet I don't remember the mad pressure to sack the manager so early in the season. But a small number of vocal people on here and Slade's sacking seems inevitable, however absurd that might be

But this season is different. Previous seasons we haven't had a pot to piss in so expectations weren't high. This year we have spent a lot by our standards, have had the chairman state we should be in the championship in two years yet we have had no improvement.

Well at the start of the season, less than half of the fans thought we'd go up this year.

Also we have been really unlucky with our fullbacks this year. Once they're all back in the team , we will improve.

This says more about the current state of NSC than anything about Russell Slade.

It's the same sheep who bleat endlessly about the coaching staff.

Tiresome.

i think people need to stop deluding themselves that nsc is somehow a representative of Brighton fans....yes, it is those fans who go on the internet ( although the current crop on here seem to be more passionate about calling eachother racists/nazi's/commies - delete where necessary)

I think where it really matters is in gates! Yesterday there was a whole heap of spare seats around the ground. I know STH's who dont even bother trying to sell their ST as there is no point 0 noone wants it!

If you recall, these were the criteria that led to Mark McGhee getting the sack

Jeff Woods and Martin Hinshelwood had less time in charge than Russell Slade has had they like Slade are very nice guys, they also like Slade failed to get satisfactory results with far less funds available.
Also in your poll i wonder how many people are voting in because they like the big fella, we all like him as i said hes a very nice guy but this unfortunately is a results business.
I would rather see Russ go now because in a few weeks time if these results carry on he may become a hate figure and he really doesnt deserve that.
