If Mitrovic can’t do it in the PL I’m not holding out much hope for Undav, Dante looks the much better all round prospect but seeing as he’s valued at £20m that one looks unlikely. Someone mentioned to me Leicester will go for him in the summer which would make the whole Union project laughable if we can’t sign their best players.

If we were on the verge of signing a Championship striker with 25 goals (and counting) this season, the we'd all be getting excited. You'll have to live with the fact that we're never going to sign a striker from another Premier League club, or equivalent level, unless they're either a cast off or injury prone.

As for Vanzeir, if Brighton want to sign Vanzeir this summer, then they will sign him. This will become a more likely scenario if we sell Trossard as they're similar players.

I’d of hoped we have moved on from signing championship strikers they aren’t a cheap option anymore and most struggle to do the business at the next level. If you watch lower league strikers with high numbers including Maupay’s Brentford reel there are so many defensive and keeper blunders that just don’t happen at this level. Personally I would shop in La liga or possibly Italy technically better players playing against better players it’s not a coincidence Cucurella is a standout signing of late.

Your hopes are unrealistic. Teams like Brighton don't have the means to sign Premier League strikers; we have to uncover hidden gems playing at lower levels, in either the Championship or foreign leagues.

Undaz baffles me. He may or may not be the answer. As we have learnt to our cost, performing well in the Low Countries is absolutely no guarantee of success in the PL.

So having bought him in January, why was he loaned back to USG? Does Potter not think he is good enough? In which case why buy him? Or did Potter want him to reinforce the squad and was told "you can't have him yet"?

If we had a couple of confident strikers who were scoring regularly I could understand defering his arrival but with our lack of goal power I fail to understand why he isn't here and playing already. Potter's decision or a decision taken out of Potter's hands?

£20-25 million is likely to be the limit we would go to but that will only be for someone with Al the right attributes. I think a Trossard type wide attacker may be the preference

"Doing the same thing over and over" {aka not bankrupting the club to pay stupid money for some mythical striker) has kept us in the PL for five (and almost certainly six) seasons. What, exactly, for a small provincial club has not been achieved?

Finding a striker who can score 10-15 goals consistently has not been achieved. I very clearly laid out options above that I think are worth exploring NONE of which would involve bankrupting the club.

USG are on the verge of winning the league and Champions League football, so selling one of their best players in January would be a big risk. We all know the club knew we were safe in January hence the sale of Burn to, so they were probably relaxed.

Just a reminder - absolutely nothing is guaranteed in football, even signing players like Lukaku ..

What options guarantee us 10 (bit low to me) - 15 goals in the PL? I can't see you actually named anyone

Well shopping for bargains on the continent is something that we have done for many years now, and l don't see that changing anytime soon.

I’m confident La liga is a foreign league any how, technically they could if all the eggs went into one basket, it’s not the policy though they prefer to spend on punts.

granted he was awful last time Fulham were in the PL but mitrovic's best PL total of 11 goals in the 2018/19 season would've seen him be our top scorer in each of the last 3 seasons and another 11 goals would've made and immeasurable difference to where we ended up in the table. just saying.

10-15 is absolutely what we should aim for and it is ignorant to think otherwise. Go look at the top PL scorers list. The only strikers with 12-14 goals with a few games to go are Son, Mane, Jota, Ronaldo, Kane.

As for who i don’t know, what I do know is we have a entire recruitment department for whom this is literally their day job. Maybe the new summer signing is the additional striker we need and would be delighted if so, recent evidence suggest not but we will see.

Another Leonardo Ulloa would be great, bought from Almeria for about £2m, then sold to Leicester for four times that amount.

Bargain.

The draw against Norwich was a bad result - irrespective of how the team played - after the string of losses this was an opportunity to win one - and the team failed.

I said earlier this season that it looked like the team had lost their soft underbelly - the evidence from the last few weeks is that they have found it again. The way things are going it looks like it will be another four games before there is an opportunity to win a game. and things could get dicey if a couple of the teams lower down string together a couple of good results.

So, let me get this right.

If Mitrovic had repeated his best ever season in the premier, (despite being awful by your own admission), three times then we should have bought him. Despite the fact that three seasons of scoring that number of goals would have put him Waaaayyy beyond £ 50M.

I will repeat one more time for the hard of thinking

Much as I understand the frustration take a look at 'Proven' Premier league strikers who have scored a reasonable amount of goals two seasons running and they are all playing for top 6 sides.

I really can't see us signing anyone outside of what we have already Sarmiento, Undav, Ferguson, Tolaj, Zeqiri, Sima or very similar

I'm off for dinner :bigwave:

Camembert with rosemary and Grissini Italian Breadsticks followed by Beef bourguignon, not that I believe anybody could be remotely interested

where did I say we should buy him? personally in my opinion we need more pace and he doesn't solve that issue. I was just pointing out that he's a much more capable footballer than people were giving him credit for
