The Championship.
When a player celbrates it shows they have passion and especially in a derby so getting booked it just ridiculous.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

Disagree.

Booked for taking shirt off - fair enough. Why the need to get half naked infront of thousands of people, I'll never know.

Booked for running into the fans - bit harsh, but fair enough. Results in crushing. Wouldn't want to be a young lad, with 10 rows of people crushing into you. It's all about health and safety now, innit.

I assume you are referring to one of these incidents, as I can't think of another reason to get booked, unless it was an over the top celebration.

Irrespective of whether it is a fair rule or not, every player knows it exists, so any player that gets booked for it is a fuckwit. And as Sam said above, what is it with players taking their shirt off? Never understood that one

Absolutely no reason why a goal celebration should extend further than a few handshakes and an occasional shout of “Jolly well done!”.

Under your skin.
The main reason why taking your shirt was made a yellow card offence is because of money - Company pay x million to have their logo on the front of Manchester Uniteds kit, Rooney scores, as the camera focuses in on him, he takes his shirt off. Sponsor has a strop and throw a hissy fit. No longer aloud to take top off

Doesn't bother me one bit, the players know the rules, so they should have the brains to stick with them. They generally manage to get by without handling the ball all the time, so I'm sure they can cope without taking their shirts off, like their predecessors did for the previous hundred or so years of football.

And he got booked  It's up to him whether he wants to take that risk, surely?

I don't run around taking my shirt off whenever the Albion score.

Drive by abusing
Bit silly when they get booked for taking off their shirt but with this in mind they should really know better.
But players jumping in the stands with the fans, Inciting the opposition & the like deserve a booking.

The Championship.
Well I was watching the Edinburgh derby earlier and Hearts equalised to make it 2-2 and they goalscorer celebrated infront of his own fans and got booked? He was not jumping into the crowd so I thought it was a little harsh to book him for something the crowd are doing ..

Really? Uefa made a rule right accross football (incl every park match in the world) so they didn't upset Nike or Carlesberg... Interesting.

Edit - see the article here from the beeb when the rule was brought in - it's mainly because it can be offensive to some religions and because it can be time consuming for the player to put the shirt back on. The article suggests the move will please sponsors, but it certainly wasn't the reason the rule was brought in!

The one that winds me up is players always seem to get booked for running to their own supporters, but never seem to get the same treatment if they incite the opposition fans.

running full pelt pumped with adrenline to the dug out or your home fans is impulsive but the act of taking your shirt off isn't! It is contrived. It may be harsh but thems the rules. What would be better would be if they came down harder on dissent to referees but the referees don't book as many as they should.
