They appear to be pretty happy... of course the fans would have preferred to keep Ayari for another year but they seem happy with the fee and that he isn't going to some mid-tier Eredivisie team which is usually where Swedish talents ends up.

Ah ok. I only had that quote from you which to me sounded like he was annoyed at being plundered. Maybe £4m is a lot for them and offsets the loss allowing them to develop and seeing him go to a middle/ upper progressive PL team helps as you said. No idea.

Either way, great business for the club in securing yet another potential gem. They won't all work out but, f*** me, we don't half seem to be getting more right than wrong

Yup £4m is good money. Their second biggest sale of all time I think, behind Alexander Isak to Dortmund.

That Swedish reporter reckons he's going in the first team squad straight away hence my semi jest comment are we broke?

Facundo and him would normally get loaned out straight away.
RDZ seems to like having the youngsters training with the first team squad. Doesn’t necessarily mean that they will play in the first team.

After listening to Lallana/Gross etc, everyone with a chance of first team football needs to implicitly understand the patterns and demands of DeZerbi ball, and be able to play it, irrespective of age or status

He also said (maybe Leicester press conference) he wasn't sure if it was better to play lots of games on loan or play fewer games but be at Brighton. Different attitude it seems.

Seems very similar to before. Some players go on loan, some don't.

Pretty curious who this may be. Couldn't have been in the top tier I think as the only Swedes to play in the English top division before he PL were Dan Ekner (Portsmouth), Hans Jeppsson (Charlton), Glenn Hysen (Liverpool), Stefan Rehn (Everton), Roland Nilsson (Sheffield Wednesday) and Anders Limpar (Arsenal).
This is a case where the Internet is a bit contradictory (fancy that). He actually played 29 games and scored 4 goals for us, including in the old first division, according to Wikipedia, more than the 6 games played according to the other site. And he appears to have been English when he played, but has since gained Swedish citizenship with a long and successful coaching career in Sweden, currently managing a Swedish first division side. The player in question is Giles Stille.

Suspected it might be him.
He's actually not a manager anywhere right now, info on Wikipedia is outdated. And "Division 1" is actually the third division (Allsvenskan - Superettan - Division 1).

From my understanding this is still very much happening, just awaiting decision on work permit and if he doesnt get one, a loan move.

The sentence that stands out to me within all that is “and he usually solves problems with a pass rather than dribbling”. I think a lot of these “wonderkids” come in expecting to be able to dribble past 3 players in the PL and it just doesn’t work like that. Sounds very RDZ.

His second tweet could hint that USG may be getting another loan player:

Yeah I don't think that is unreasonable to believe.

But also wouldn't be surprised if he stays with Brighton for the rest of the season to build himself up and perhaps play a bit with the U21s. Easy to forget that due to the Swedish spring-autumn schedule, he is currently in early pre-season shape and it could take about a month before he's ready to play and considering where Union are in the league, they might not be too keen on making room for him in the lineup that late into the season. And if he's not going to get any/much game time with Union, it might just make more sense to have him stay in Brighton and develop through training with the team.

Surely because the man that matters, Roberto De Zerbi, has determined they are not (yet) good enough.

And he has the benefit of watching them day in, day out in training.
I think the yet is really important regarding Gilmour. He's 21 and has made the same amount of appearances as Enciso and Ferguson, and 1 more than Sarmiento. We're not saying those three aren't good enough yet are we?

Billy is set for 508 minutes (though you think he'd get more towards the busy end of the season) if he gets the same playing time across the second half of the season, that's not dissimilar to Moder and Lamptey's first season playing time.

Watching Van Hecke at Leicester, he did a lot of things right and a small number of things he could improve on. In simple terms right now I would rather play Webster or Colwill. There will come a time when through injuries and suspensions when we will have to rely on inexperienced players for a run of games and they will have to sink or swim. Is Gilmour ready is hard to assess even for RDZ, given the quality and consistency of the players in front of him and like Van Hecke he has shown in patches that he could step up given a run of games.
