Yup £4m is good money. Their second biggest sale of all time I think, behind Alexander Isak to Dortmund.

After listening to Lallana/Gross etc, everyone with a chance of first team football needs to implicitly understand the patterns and demands of DeZerbi ball, and be able to play it, irrespective of age or status

Seems very similar to before. Some players go on loan, some don't.

Couldn't have been in the top tier I think as the only Swedes to play in the English top division before he PL were Dan Ekner (Portsmouth), Hans Jeppsson (Charlton), Glenn Hysen (Liverpool), Stefan Rehn (Everton), Roland Nilsson (Sheffield Wednesday) and Anders Limpar (Arsenal).

The sentence that stands out to me within all that is “and he usually solves problems with a pass rather than dribbling”. I think a lot of these “wonderkids” come in expecting to be able to dribble past 3 players in the PL and it just doesn’t work like that. Sounds very RDZ.

Yeah I don't think that is unreasonable to believe.

But also wouldn't be surprised if he stays with Brighton for the rest of the season to build himself up and perhaps play a bit with the U21s. Easy to forget that due to the Swedish spring-autumn schedule, he is currently in early pre-season shape and it could take about a month before he's ready to play and considering where Union are in the league, they might not be too keen on making room for him in the lineup that late into the season. And if he's not going to get any/much game time with Union, it might just make more sense to have him stay in Brighton and develop through training with the team.

Watching Van Hecke at Leicester, he did a lot of things right and a small number of things he could improve on. In simple terms right now I would rather play Webster or Colwill. There will come a time when through injuries and suspensions when we will have to rely on inexperienced players for a run of games and they will have to sink or swim. Is Gilmour ready is hard to assess even for RDZ, given the quality and consistency of the players in front of him and like Van Hecke he has shown in patches that he could step up given a run of games.
