Xbox one or playstation 4?

I've always had both but this gen my PS was only ever used as a Blu-ray player and my 360 took a real battering.
Recently though I have questioned why I keep using MS devices and operating systems. I'm doing all I can to move away now, (using a chromebook to write this).

Sony's presentation at E3 made my mind up on the console front and the fact that I don't need to have a camera hooked up with an overview of my whole living room on the PS underlined it.

Of the two the PS4 certainly looks the better proposition - never had either a PS or Xbox though myself (always been a Nintendo guy but Wii U is stretching that) so will probably stick with my PC

Ps1 then ps2 then ps3... Then I bought an Xbox 360 and had the Xbox and the ps3 at the same time before selling the Xbox...

So ps4 if I bother to get a new console. My ps3 is still going strong and as I only play FIFA it'll have to be something special on the ps4 for me to invest. Def won't even think about purchasing the Xbox one though.

As long as everyone gets to experience the warm glow of Battlefield 4 then we're all winners.

I've been Xbox loyal previously, really not sure on what way I will go on this one. I think the novelty of talking to/waving at your console will ware off and get boring after a while... and it is more expensive anyway.

Having owned PS1, PS2 and PS3 I will not be buying a PS4.

Neither will I be giving my money to Microsoft. My PS3 rarely gets turned on even though it is brilliant. I have finally realised that MW3, or Blacks Ops or Battlefield are basically all the same game - a shoot em up. You can only kill so many others before it affects you mentally, I think I have shellshock.

Oh well, more time for fresh air, sunshine and exercise.

Think Microsoft have shot themselves in the foot, the Xbox is very pricy, the second hand game idea isnt a good one and having to connect to the internet every 24 hours isnt that great an idea to most casual gamers.

Plus how many people will use the built in Kenect camera?

been a long time fan of xbox but recently swapped over to PS3 after the xbox died completely, was swayed by my desire for blu-ray etc.... and must say looking at xbox one vs PS4 it's a real no brainer to me, i'm sticking with sony now....

360 was my main console this generation but gonna get PS4 as there are more reasons to get a ps4 than Xbone, I'll probably end up getting an Xbone a few years down the line when its cheaper

Why would anybody want this function?

Agreed - when they demonstrated that function at the console launch it was horrible. The last thing I want when engrossed in a film or a game is my mate on his sofa appearing on the side of the screen talking over it

This is my take, I don't want an entertainment hub just want a decent console and won't ever use Kinect so begrudge paying for it. Currently got both but PS3 is only really used for Blu-ray and hate the controller, it always felt to lightweight and awkward.
Mainly only play FPS so as long as it has BF4 and COD looks like PS4 at the moment. May wait a while after release to see if there's any problems online etc. that's one area where xBox wins hands down at the moment and I'm happy to pay for it, PS3 online is horrible experience.

Funnily enough, non XB1 users can also do the same, it's called watching films on the TV and actually socialising in real life

Anyway, PS4 for me. Having to pay for Playstation Plus to play online doesn't bother me as I do this anyway and it's incredible value for money.
Had every Playstation pretty much from 6 months post-release to 6-months post next-gen release and never had an issue with one. Had the original Xbox back in the day, it lasted 4 months. Never again. Couldn't even be arsed getting it fixed, only ever played Splinter Cell anyway.

Being an adult now, this is the first time I think I'm actually able to afford a next-gen console on release day Even though I may probably wait 6 months in case of any release-glitches... it's a tough call to make.

For me it'll either be PS4 at launch or at Xmas. Either way I'll get one within the first few months of its life cycle

What do you reckon I'll be able to make as profit if I buy one and sell it on ebay straight away? Anyone remember how much markup they were going for when the PS3 came out?
