Tissot are good arm clocks. I was looking at Omega seamsters a while back and it gets very expensive, very quickly.

Then I started reading and looking further into it . . . .The 1950's Tissot seastar is identical to the seamster , and 1/3 of the price!

a smaller watch and more subtle than a cronograph, also fits under a shirt cuff.

I love a nice watch but got into the habit of wearing cheap fitness trackers a few years ago and can't shake the habit. I may look at Apple watches again but doubt if I'll go back to traditional watches. The world has moved on.

As I said, "I love a nice watch." At one time, a traditional analogue watch was all there was. Now there are many alternatives to choose from, depending on your needs, preferences, lifestyle, budget, and so on. No criticism was made, or intended, of anyone with different preferences.

Oh of course, sorry if you thought I was having a pop I most definitely wasn't.

I'm only a year or so back in the world of (cheapo) watches - currently wearing my Jump Hour - and as said it's just nice and comforting to not have the technology, esp when the choices available are so extensive.

I have a Tag Heuer watch my husband bought me about 23 years ago. Can’t see it without glasses on now, took me a few days to realise it needs a new battery

For no other reason than I scrolled through a near identical video earlier where all the 'cheap' watches were £300-£500.

At least these 5 are up too around £100, (i think, i didnt linger)

No1 looks like a simplified RedStar Seagull 1963 , worth looking for the actual one which isn't much more expensive.

I started to collect Nixon watches many years ago, they're a bit different and go well with casual attire.The older models (Dork, Player, Rotolog, Dictator etc...) were all fairly unique. They then did a Star Wars collection so my inner child demanded i buy some. I have a Seiko 5, a random automatic from India, Tendence, kinetic Citizen, Casio calculator watch, a few random Star Wars novelty watches and a small variety of random retro watches. I treated myself to a nice Mr Jones watch, handmade automatic watch that are more like mini works of art.

The most i've spent is about £200ish, i always wear a watch, i see them as a form of interesting functional arm decoration!

I'm always really torn between tech and tradition. I've got a nice Gucci which is quite "dressy". I also have a lovely couple of see-through skeletons, because I love seeing all the inner workings ticking and spinning away.

But then my day-to-day is a Samsung Galaxy smartwatch. Its just SO handy for reading text messages on it and replying, rather than getting the phone out. Plus I've got a superb football app on it for all the latest score alerts, which is dead good to keep track of my accas when I favourite certain games for goal updates or whatnot.

I always like the look of a traditional ticker, but I'm also a tech nerd who loves the smartwatch. I couldn't give a flying about sleep patterns or stepcounts, mind. That can get in the sea.

there were a lot of collaborative efforts back then. Not all legit, but many were.

Common movements is the easiest to identify . . . There are as some very well engineered watches for hundreds which are the same inside as 'famous ' ones for thousands. . . . . To the point, like cars, they get bought and used to restore more desirable tat.

A Belgian friend bought an Austin Westminster 15 years ago . . . . sold the engine for ten times to a Healey racer.

Had it serviced by an old codger watch specialist, he was very enthusiastic about it and made no mention of the guts being changed or tampered with.

My wristwatch was purchased in Singapore airport over 30 years ago for a very small amount of money. It's still going strong which is more than I can say about myself.
