I was wondering, reports of at least 100 women abused in Cologne. Reports of scores more across Germany and maybe others (Sweden and Austria) suffering the same fate. All have families. They certainly have fathers, brothers, husbands, uncles and even sons who are now weighing their consciences.

British society has been adapting to changing circumstances for hundreds of years. Some of us are proud to recognise this and the benefits that these changes have brought.

Do you REALLY think that we should leave the management of social change to politicians?

No we shouldn't because in the last 20 years they have largely been proven to be liars.

On the ITV news today when they reported Cameron's negotiation in Hungary, they highlighted that as far as the Hungarian PM was concerned Hungarian citizens in the UK are not "immigrants" as we understand it they are EU citizens with equal rights as UK citizens.

Funny how the Hungarian PM understands very clearly how the EU works............no UK politician would dare speak so plainly.

British citizens in the meantime live with the consequences, of low pay and ever increasing demands on housing, social services etc.

Nothing to be proud of, on the contrary it's a disgrace.

BBC were no better. Only really reporting it last night.

Oh and apparently we have to move GCSE exams to avoid Rammadam. What the hell is going on.

I was looking at a debate about this. Many Muslims agreed that the exam times should not be moved. Here is a reply that summed it up.

" I think this step is commendable...however, Muslim students do not need to fast on exam day. I remember we never used to fast even during exam prep time...and I am talking about a Muslim country"

Why are the right wing hand wringers repeatedly complaining things are being "covered up"? The disgusting behaviour of these particular immigrants is currently the biggest news story in Europe. That article in the OP contradicts itself continuously to this exact effect.

Covered up very badly indeed, poor effort compared to Rotherham

Yep, Rotherham etc were certainly covered up a whole lot better than Cologne. The Cologne chief has resigned, seems changing police reports was picked up and acted on a lot quicker than over here.

Come on, even you cannot be that naïve. It took several days before the story leaked out, and there was clearly a conspiracy to shove it all under the carpet. I was watching German TV when the news first broke, and the newscaster assured everyone that no current asylum seekers/migrants/refugees were involved . . .

News agencies probably did err on the side of caution. No news reader wants to be the cause of public disorder or rioting if they mistakingly report it was asylum seekers, sparking a violent reprisal. Like it or not, it's a sensitive issue. If police are (correctly) not issuing facts while they gather evidence, it's very hard to report on.

The problem with some on here is they immediately jump to the conclusion that everyone is anti white - Christian if any benefit of the doubt is even temporarily granted to immigrants. Similarly they believe if someone doesn't advocate the immediate rounding up and mass deporting of all refugees they must be an ISIS sympathiser and are fair game to be personally insulted. These are the reasons these threads are moved to the dustbin, not because we want ISIS to move into London and rape our daughters, but because of aggressive, knee jerk reactions. And I imagine because people are rather bored of seeing our resident Alf Garnet's take over the Big Board with their ill informed, aggressive, prejudiced tripe.

Fair play to the Cologne police for that at least, now kick that ridiculous mayor out of office for her outrageous comments

That is disingenuous or rather naive nonsense. Isn't it more likely the news agencies were showing exactly the same mindset as the German police and Mayor of Cologne and Merkel ie a rather pathological desire to tolerate the intolerant rather than be accused of racism/stirring up racial tension. It took the state public broadcast network 4 days to report mass criminal and sexual assaults by between 500 and a thousand men ... is that really hard to report on?

The more robust opinions of a small minority of posters with a certain view should not be used as an excuse to sideline important issues. Deal with individual posters if they are breaking any NSC rules. As for abusive or insulting comments I seem to recall you have indulged in the same robust exchanges on occasion... a tad hypocritical perhaps.

The problem with thinking this is acceptable occurs when a topic which you find important is sidelined continuously what then?

Henriette Reker (born 9 December 1956) is a German lawyer and independent politician. She is known for her pro-immigration stance and for being the victim of an assault in 2015. A day after the attack, Reker was elected mayor of Cologne after gaining 52.66% of the votes.[1] She is the first female mayor elected in Cologne's history...............and soon to be former Mayor.

Was she the one stabbed for her pro immigration statements?

Fair play to you for an answer that didn't resort to colourful langauge or personal insuklts, rather refreshing on these threads. I think we will always have a slightly different approach to this matter but I hope we can all agree, nomatter what way we look at it, the events themselves are vile and need to be addressed swiftly.
