Yes it is a stupid question. Surely you want your team to compete at the highest level. I would happily take a season worse than Derbys for the 60m on offer.

You have no evidence to suggest every ticket would cost £50 a game at all (the top tickets might but i would fully expect ticket prices to have more of a spread at Falmer than we currently do).
Who cares if we get beat most weeks, we'd be seeing some world class players and know that the money coming in (with careful managment) would see the clubs future secured for many many years to come. If we have to take a few beatings to secure that then so be it.

Cheapest season ticket deals at Portsmouth (outside the family enclosure) work out at £31.57 a game for adults / £22.11 for seniors and 17-21 year olds / £18.16 for kids.

I'd be happy to pay that to see us in the Premiership. If we were paying that and doing what Portsmouth have done over the last few season than I be f***ing delighted.

As whipping boys, which we'd probably be, I'm not sure. I didn't really enjoy most of our games in the top flight last time in comparison to the three seasons before as we came out of Division three, spent a year in Division two and then got promoted.
The buzz at getting their was amazing and probably the best bit. A 0-4 defeat in our opening game against Arsenal set the tone for our stay.
I think I might prefer to be a good team in the Championship just missing promotion to being a Derby

Yes of course, I'd want us to get to the Premiership. What I wouldn't want us to do is to go bankrupt trying to stay there. We'll never be one of the big boys but we can still 'do a Reading' and have a couple of seasons in the Prem. I just hope we won't be as timid as them when it comes to the FA Cup.
Icy, I accept that getting there will probably be more enjoyable that actually BEING in the Prem, but I don't think that's a good enough reason to say you don't want to see us there. We had some good days in the old 1st divison.

why do people automaticaly assume this? why remember the Derby experience, rather than that of Wigan and the clubs that have been in and out of the top flight for the last 20 years which is just about all bar a half dozen.

I would watch them anywhere, Premier League or the Conference, or below, if.....
When we get there, it would be nice if the club could set some sort of pricing policy which allowed as many people as possible to attend, ie not have genuine long-term supporters priced out. Realistically, we could not hope to survive more than a couple of seasons (a la Reading) at best, so all supporters should be given the chance to see a few games.

I totally agree, the best bit is when you get into the premiership and after about 20 games the party atmosphere is lost...

Because they had lots of money injected into them, wigan have managed to stabalise a pretty much gurranteed place in the premier league.. I don't think we'd be a very attractive proposition for investors.

If you want to see world class players watch the Champions league and don't watch them completely thrashing brighton

As long as I didnt lose my season ticket chance because a load of glory hunting chavs who thinks Leon Zamora was our best ever player I wouldnt mind.
We get a load of money, and it will be nice to see a few Albion shirts walking around Brighton instead of Man U/Chelsea ones.
We've been in the top flight before, so why not again. It would be funnier if we got there still playing at Withdean

I never said I'd pay quite a lot to see world class players, I said I'd pay quite a lot to see my club in the Premiership against world class players. Besides which as LB pointed out Portsmouth season tickets work out at just over £30 each match, is that really that bad considering what we are paying at the moment for League 1 football? If Brighton got up there then we would do well to look at what the likes of Portsmouth and Reading have done and use parts of that as our own blueprint for the way forward.
The most important thing to me is the survival of the club so my kids, my possible grandkids and their kids can go on supporting us. The 60million + windfall premiership football brings which would secure our future for many seasons to come is more important than a few drubbings against Chelsea and Man Utd. You don't support a club just when they are winning, you take the rough with the smooth.

Seen it, and although there were some great days, akin to staying in the Championship, most of the time we were played off the park. The crowds dipped quite alarmingly from memory and the atmosphere was seldom as good as it had been when we'd been up at the top.
The only time we actually competed well and looked relatively at ease was when Mike Bailey was manager and he got the sack for being boring.
If you've never seen the Albion at the top level I agree 100% that you want to see them there, but unless we have the money to do a Wigan I think you might get quite depressed seeing your team outclassed every week. Think 2nd season in the Championship under MM but worse
