[Albion] Would you be happy to be in the Championship again

No, as others have said it's fantastic to watch from afar but actually being in it was pure hell (other than that one season when it was pure joy)

Besides, even if we went straight back up going up again would never feel as special as it did in 2017

Preferable to bobbing in around in the mid to lower reaches of the PL though, surely?

I wonder if you’d still feel like that if we had a PL season like Sheffield United have just had
There is little to no chance of us having a season like Sheffield United with Bloom at the top. Sheffield United are where they are because they have an uninterested owner. I've never seen a team going up despite being unable to pay their players. They almost certainly will make a tidy profit this season, despite being crap.

In fact, Sheffield United are a remarkable anomaly. They are already the worst defence the PL has ever seen (by goals per game), and almost certainly destined to be the worst defence by all metrics. They're comfortably the lowest scorers in the league. Currently the 3rd lowest points total of all time in the league.

If we went down, it just wouldn't be like that, it won't be like that next year for any other team. It would be depressing, but we'd be in a relegation battle (as per the Hughton years), not a freefall from day one.

Sorry but no.
I'm too old, too tired and despite my phenomenal hair, to depressed to go through all that again.

As much as I hate the Premier League, I somehow manage to hate breaks from it, yet the thought of the Albion playing what'll seem like 3 times a day, will have me retreating to my armchair.

What can I say - I'm complicated.

Not for me, I'm quite happy being a club which can attract good talent, is financially secure and has the potential to push for Europe

Absolutely not. Also, zero guarantee we'd go back up.

I'd prefer to see us compete game to game against the big boys, than to compete game to game with Rotherham. Can't believe anyone would want to watch a far lower standard of football for a chance to win slightly more often.

Plus, imagine wanting to go through the stress of another failed play off campaign.

I obviously wouldn't want the poor season to get as there.

But yes I'd very much enjoy a competing for a title with no VAR.

The club, players and fans have put so much effort into getting to the Premier League, becoming an established Premier League team and having a really good go at Europe. It would be disappointing.

I used to look at the Championship as ‘our par level’ but Bloom, Barber and others have re-set that to the Premier League. Whilst I could do a season, maybe two in the Championship, I know we could be so much more.

Would I be happy that we'd been relegated? Of course not.

Would I still enjoy watching us in the Championship - of course I would. I'd get to see a lot of wins, and have fun days out. But it is certainly not where I want us to be.

I live near Southampton, and many of my mates are Saints fans. They are a rum lot at the best of times, the Saints fans - and never seem very content with their lot. After a run of miserable PL campaigns they finally went down last season. This term, they've been on a record-breaking winning run. They've seen their team win 25 league games (we have won 11) and celebrated 33 more goals than we have.

But they are still constantly dissatisfied. Because it is not where they want to be. They are jealous of my trips to Amsterdam and Rome - and reminisce about their own adventures in Milan and Arnhem.
Probably a bridge too far for them to get back into the PL then.

I used to feel that I wouldn't mind too much if we went down.
That was before we had the type of talent that has passed through our squad over the past 4 seasons.
Since then the gap between 15th in the Prem and top 6 of Championship has increased dramatically.

Failure to capitalise on the work of Tony, PB, Potter, De Zerbi et al., would be a crime.
We have everything in place to stay in the top division for many more seasons yet.

Complacency is the only risk.

Maybe YOU’D walk away? I am sure quite a few would
Nope I would not be happy.
Nope I would not enjoy the championship, it is easier to get relegated from than promoted.
Nope I would not walk away.
Those that walk away, can keep walking until they get to feckoffsville and keep going until they reach nevercomebacksville.

What makes you so sure we'd be competing for a title? 19 out of the 24 Championship teams are relegated PL teams that didn't get promoted. This season, only mega-budget, PSR-busting Leicester are nailed on to be promoted.

Yes.

But I'd much rather be in the Premier League*

*as long as it isn't in a backs to the wall low block battle to get to 40 points every year.

We're not getting relegated any time soon.

But a season or two in the Championship would be quite enjoyable for me. Different away days, winning more than we lose, plenty of games without needing to break the bank to go to Rome or Amsterdam.

TB and PBOBE would hate it though. A total money pit.

I'd Grin and Bear it, I suppose.

But it would be such a massive setback financially and with the player conveyor belt that I would in no way be "happy".

DO you think that Sheff United fans would rather they didn't have this season.

Personally I very much doubt it.
