[Albion] Would have been a near perfect window if we’d brought in a striker

My point being that adding £30-50mil to that is much less sustainable. I think the current window reflects that with only approx £10m spent on 3 signings.

If we we had to live within our earnings we would be a third of a billion pounds behind where we are today.

I’ll repeat that a third of a billion!!!

No stadium
No prem league
No training ground

Yet the abuse aimed at club employees for not spending on this or that is completely out of proportion.

I agree with every point you make. I also think Clubs should be sustainable. Quite simply because they are often at the heart of every Community and if lost it would be massively detrimental to any Community.

That said. There are some mixed messages coming out of the Club. They are spending Millions paying Executive Employees behind the Footballing scenes to drive the Club supposedly to the Upper Echelons of the PL.

Then when it comes to the spending on the players needed to get there it seems to breakdown.

I think the Club did right not to overspend; however what it is not doing is Managing the Fans Expectations. They need to stop parading the high paid Executives to the Media as some sort of Messiah.

By all means employ these people but do it on the quiet so that you don't raise the hopes dreams and aspirations of the fans. To a level which ma or may not be achievable

I wouldn't say I was gloomy, but I am concerned.

Whilst I'm very pleased we have secured Mooy's services permanently, the club had already stated he was our player for the remainder of the season regardless so, given I am very much focusing on this season, nothing has changed there.

Having Mac All-star join up with us earlier than expected is also clearly a positive, however I am certainly guarded about how much impact a youngster who has been playing in a strong side in a lower quality league will have when dropped into a Premier League relegation dogfight. That he has never experienced the cut and thrust of English football, and never lived in this country means my short-term expectations of him are low, which is surely the correct approach.

From the outset I have been concerned about our ability to score enough goals, and that remains today. I don't doubt the difficulty in securing significant goal-threat in January, so I'm crossing my fingers that Potter finds a way to squeeze enough goals out of what he has.
I don`t think things are quite as bad as it seems .The new Argentinian could be like a Vicente type of player but without the injuries .Mistakes in the Premier League are punished brutally so we need to cut that out . Seeing as G.Potter is flexible with playing players in different positions if all three strikers get injured which is not impossible ,Bissouma or Ali J could play target man ,crazy as it sounds .They are good footballers and better then them sitting on the bench .Solly March has played as a No 10 as well. Some strikers for other teams have hardly scored any goals this season.

Yes, I'm fully aware of the amount of money that TB has pumped into the club, but that isn't the point. When we were in The Championship struggling to get out of it, we were losing millions of pounds every season. As someone put it, Tony Bloom was effectively paying what, £20M plus per year for his season ticket, and we couldn't expect him to carry on doing it indefinitely, so we had to get promoted to the PL.
We did - but TB's still got the most expensive season ticket in the world. We're still not breaking even, which I would consider to be the definition of sustainability.

As I mentioned, I’m all for interesting debate, and you make good points. I don’t disagree that we are still not sustainable, but splashing more money on a striker we could actually get (rather than the mystery man who has prem experience, a good goal scoring record, won’t want more than £50k per week etc. etc.) at this time won’t help that situation. It is more likely to make it worse. Maupay is not playing badly and but for some great goalkeeping at Bournemouth could have had a brace. Murray is not dead yet, he is still an option. Connolly is a backup to both and we have added Mac Allister as an attacking midfield option as well.

However, the main thrust of my post was that the small but very vocal posters who are constantly and disproportionately negative are just making it all a slog for anyone who actually likes to enjoy football rather than be angry about it.

Did i miss us rejecting a bid for Dunk in this window?

I’m not sure we can class keeping our players as good business, if no one has bid for them!

Fair enough... perhaps I became paranoid when I heard that Chelsea might make an offer we couldn't refuse.

So out of the bottom 10 teams in the league only 2, Villa 32 and Southampton 31 have scored more goals than us.

And only Palace out of the bottom 8 have conceded less.

Not all bad Shirley.

Fewer.

Other than that, I agree. Although our defence is looking a bit thin, especially with Dunk facing a 2 match suspension.

Too much expectation on the Argie as well. He’s currently playing in a far weaker league.

While I broadly agree, it is of concern that we've conceded 6 goals in the last two games against relegation rivals.

I will try to get less grammar errors in future. Its really quite patronising and unnecessary but thanks.

6 of the most laughable goals scored against us this season.

The recent two Snodgrass goals were hit firm and hard with deflections that made them impossible to save. The first hammers’ goal was a defensive organisation error with Ryan the ultimate villain.

Dunk’s gutless header and Stephens lack of tracking back allowed B’Muff to take the lead and then a goal stupider than Palace’s keeper chucking the ball in his own net followed by a B’Muff getting all the luck as their striker overhit the ball but got a flukey deflection to hand the lost ball back to him.

Apparently it’s all Webster’s fault?

What makes it wrong?

English language rules according to any credible educational institution and as taught to my classmates and me in year 7 by an English teacher that I had a massive crush on. Maybe that was why I remember if well, but I only got a C in my GCSE, so it can’t be that complex.

In some ways, I do this stuff for a bit of a laugh as people can be very easy to wind up on here; in other ways, I’m genuinely fed up of the dumbing down of the country. People that learn English as a second language don’t seem to have too many problems with it. It’s depressing.

Mooy giving the ball away leading to Villa’s equaliser was Webster’s fault as well. He should have anticipated that Mooy would give the ball away and been in a defensive formation.

So why would you just want to wind people up on here?

At least i know "It was a bit of a laugh"

Thanks for that.

We've been dumbing down since at least the year 888 it seems.
