It was a well-made point on another thread - the Nazis' values were undeniably very, very close to those espoused by the BNP - substitute Germany's Jews in the 1930s for British Muslims today and some of the language used is virtually indentical. They certainly both appealed to a similar constituency of the sad, the insignificant, the self-pitying downtrodden perpetual "victims" - neither the Nazis or the BNP were/are far the strong, striding figures they saw themselves as being, but the set-upon finally striking back, as they'd see it.

I don't think for one second this horrendous act is just the usual antisocial vandalism. I think it's because if you sympathise with the BNP - and you don't need to read NSC for long to see there's a lot of that about - then you're totally sympathising with the values that this country's war heroes did such brave battle with. I have never believed in summary justice but this is a case where a well delivered and swift kick in the bollocks of the perpetrators would be well deserved.

The sad fact is that those who did it are quite possibly mis-guided and poorly educated individuals, they need educating in the error of their ways, show them how offensive their act was to the people of Worthing and that it was totally unacceptable.

much as many on here don't like it, the News of the World are offering a £1000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever did this.

My Grandfathers cousin who died very near the end of the second world war is remembered on that memorial. Glad they've cleaned it off. Bloody disgrace, whoever did it should be throughly ashamed, I hope they are found and named.
