Behind the goal for that one with bruv who was on crutches already,I think aldershot took the backlash the next day, millwall away good friday then aldershot on the saturday:rolleyes:
Then gillingham at home on the monday???

Was on the train to Aldershot. It stopped short of the station, right behind the ground. Suddenly, hordes of BHA fans jumped out and rampaged into the ground, with one lone steward powerless to stop them. As the train rumbled on towards the station, fans were already on the pitch and celebrating.

the first Le Harve match - don't recall any major bother, although I was in a bar on my own minding my own business when there was a bit of handbags, literally as not only was it two blokes but two women as well got involved! it spilled onto the street and the bar owner was brawling with one lad, and a plastic chair was thrown but that was about it, the gendo...geonedom....jeandomm.......French old bill turned up and gave all four inc the woman a bit of a good hiding while throwing them into the van. Considering how much most of us drunk that weekend it was relatively trouble free

Wolves away around 1980/1. A 2-2 draw if I remember correctly (Michael Robinson up front). Coming out of the ground there were about 9 of us (3 girls) and we were set upon but about 20 Wolves skinheads. A few of us held our ground but one ran and they all followed him and kicked him unconscious. We though he was dead - it was chilling. Even after that they wanted more - the police who were around were useless.

More generally I have to agreed that The Old Den was the worst - a friend of mine was held down got his neck bitten open there. Always a relief to get home from there. Ditto Cardiff at Ninian Park.

Not necessarily the worst, but certainly the freakiest for me was Aldershot away in the cup the year we put 6 past them, 2000 or 2001 I think?

Long story short, but I happened to be in The Shots pub, full of Aldershot when it got attacked by Albion. Very weird being in a pub full of the opposition when being attacked by Albion. Fortunately there was a back exit to the pub which we found pdq.

I was there for that...There were a load of Palace fans in Aldershot, meeting up with their Albion counterparts for a game of tables & chairs.

Brentford away in the cup in 1987,I think all 4 pubs at the corners of the ground had their windows put in.i think there were 29 Albion fans arrested that day.
Also saw a fair bit of trouble at Ipswich last day of the season when they went up and we went down.

Remember the 87/88 season and trips to Southend, gillingham, aldershot, brentford and Northampton got lively, especially the cup games !!

Me too. l can remember incidents at most of those grounds. Especially at the normally genteel Recreation Ground in Aldershot. at a game in the mid to late 80's. Provoked l believe by a few dozen squaddies who started aiming projectiles at us both inside and outside the stadium!

Another incident that comes to mind also dates from the mid-eighties, on the train en-route to Portman Road. The train ground to a halt about 100 yards from Manningtree Station, and there we stayed for a couple of hours, the engine had broken down and we weren't allowed to leave the train and walk back to the platform. The replacement engine broke down too a few hundred yards down the track. We never did make it to Ipswich that day, and by the time we left it, there wasn't too much left intact on the train.

I seem to remember whilst watching the news in my native liverpool a game v cambridge was on the news where Brighton fans for whatever reason kept invading the pitch and running the length of it to get into the home end . Obviously the pies were rubbish in the away end as this seems to be the only thing that still causes a riot these days .

I think there was a couple of Brighton in the home end behind the goal. we were all penned in behind the other goal. A group of about 30 of our 'finest' were in the unfenced (home) seats to our right , there was a bit of handbags in the home end so they legged it up the wing to 'have a look'. I remember a bit of running back n forth after the match (I think it was 84)

The classic line when cambridge started questioning a lad from nutley in the home end .
c "your brighton aint you"
b "no i'm at uni here"
c "which one?"
b "st trinnians"
c" yeah okay mate heard of that one"

Not a Brighton away game but a game involving Brighton fans. Bognor v Swansea in the FA Cup first round at The Vetch Field in 1984.
It was the perfect storm.
A totally fenced-in away section behind the goal.
Low policing due to the miners strike. (initially about 3 policeman, ending with a van load plus a police dog).
A large group of Brighton supporters from Littlehampton.
Bognor's most notorious.
A van load of Portsmouth's 657 crew supporting several mates who were playing for Bognor.
No Swansea fans involved.

It kicked off midway through the first half when the police attempted to eject a Bognor fan. The police got attacked, and then the Littlehampton boys started fighting the Pompey boys, with Bognor boys fighting anyone and it continued until the final whistle. It's the only time I've seen a police dog picked up and thrown.
It finished with 26 arrests, a 1-1 draw (Geoff Cooper scored for Bognor) and The Rocks winning the replay 3-1.

Terrible behaviour all round but remembered with a nostalgic fondness.

cheaterfield away, cant remember when, we raided the open market for clothes before going to the game. got into their end and greeted the home supporters as they came through with a 'funnel shaped' kicking tunnel. in the holmsdale end with a sheet saying 'we f*cking hate palace' on it, which was revealed once it started to fill up and fisty cuffs ensued.
