Worst referee performance I have ever seen

I think you are missing the point sunshine. The thread of this post reads 'Worst referee performance I have ever seen', clearly this was not. Both sending off's were correct and maybe, just maybe he might have booked a few more or given a penalty....but the worse ever...............No surely not. If you think so, your are clearly deluded and have a short memory - did you not see Southampton away?
But maybe I am wrong and the fact that we have the worst disciplinary record in the championship is because of a conspiracy theory where all refs in the Football League are all hell bent on picking on Brighton & Hove Albion?

Saturdays game has got nothing to do with conspiracy theories, I have been following football for 40 years and played at County level, Sorry "sunshine" but that WAS the worst display by a Ref I have ever seen at any level. ( that includes sunday morning under 10's football!).
If you can honestly think that the ref had even an OK game on saturday, then I suggest you need to watch a bit more Football yourself and gain an understanding of what are good and bad decisions.
The Ref on saturday was nothing short of SHOCKING for the whole of the first half

I agree with this entirley. How, just f***ing HOW!!! Can anybody say that the player who had his hands towards Barnes's throat and DID two foot him not be deserving of a sodding yellow card???

Should be an "e" after How methinks. I think Eddie-boy has been studying the Albion to work out which players to wind up. Didn't you have some disciplinary probs against bournemouth a couple of seasons ago?

A little bird tells me that Mr Pawson will be the referee for the Southampton game.

I think the only decisions he got right were the red cards although there should have been another for their player. He couldn't even get goal kicks and corners right. By the stage when El-abd kicked the ball out aiming for their player and missed and he gave a goal kick was getting comical and didn't ankergren make save round the post and got a goal kick too

Guys, some of you really make me laugh.....I particularly enjoyed the refereeing conspiracy theory against us (yeah right!). Wise up, our disciplinary record is a disgrace and we need to do something about it. Two sent off in twelve minutes. 1. A clear punch to the kidneys (right in front of me) 2. Barnes went into a tackle foot off the ground and made contact. I don’t give a toss about what else happened who threw a handbag or what. Two sendings off in 12 minutes is not good enough.

Agreed

On the football league show commentary they weren't surprised that player was sent off, just that it was a Brighton player. It was a shocking tackle and the ref get in badly wrong. The fact that we got all the 50-50 decision and a load of 40-60 decisions in the second half would back that up. I've no complaints about the venicelot decision as the ref didn't have a choice. I do have a problem about the face grab on El-abd as I always thought that raising a hand to a players face was a straight red.

good points

:dunce: Sorry I bow down, I have obviously got this badly wrong and many thanks for putting me in my place!
Especially having seen that you are an expert at ‘Under 10s’ football and that you have been following football for 40 years (is that Subbuteo?) Then on top of that, you then tell me you have played at County level. This clearly out trumps my meagre football experience.
Having reviewed the video evidence it is clear that Vincelot was merely introducing himself (must be a French custom?) and he was just ‘misunderstood’ by the fourth official, who obviously had a really bad view?
As for Barnes (as many of you are saying and I can clearly see this now), he was just trying to protect himself when he lunged in the air with his foot off the ground.

Do you think Mr Poorson watched MOTD at the weekend, because if he did there were at least a dozen sending offs by his standards.Where would we be?A good ref implements common sense and consistancy, he did not show any,it is as simple as that.He reffed a professional game in a complete amateurish manner,he looked way out of his depth and ruined the game.PISS POOR!

Its interesting that posts on here that stick up for the shambles that was Saturday seem to be new posters. Where have they come from? Fact is that many punters now look at all sports with a sideways looks. Snooker and admitted frame fixing, cricket and players in jail, football and admitted kicking the ball out of play. Now also the Italian football arrests. Football betting is huge and the decisions to give Saints penalties outside the box and then the decision to send two players from the same side rendered all "Brighton win" bets on Saturday lost. Good compliance should mean that these games are called in for a look whether or not there is anything wrong. The days of us punters just assuming there were mistakes have gone and we should expect investigations into anything odd, and two sendings off inside 9 minutes is odd. That is not to say there was anything wrong as of course there is no findings to say that there was something wrong and we must assume it was all proper. The point is however that good compliance should require that it is looked at.

Agreed.
I like Barnes, but that was an obvious red. What a dim thing to do. Instead of fortress-Gus, I hope Barnes was privately bollocked & learns.

Blinkered fans may blame the ref, but it was the disappointment of wrongly guessing he was going to send off a Burnley player to even the numbers up.
Even from the WSU I wasn't so sure, and I thought he was walking towards Albion players to send one of ours off, and he did.

Far worse refs and decisions about:
S'ton pen vs Albion.
Stuart Atwell in every PL game. In love with himself, loves to belittle and wind-up players, and gets a stack of key decisions wrong.

There is nothing blinkered about thinking that two sendings offs for the same side makes a home win almost impossible. That is an odd event and with sports betting history (football included) then us punters should expect that it is called in and looked at. That is not to say there was anything wrong, but it is odd, game changing and good compliance requires it be called in. Will it? Unlikely and then when snooker frame fixing comes out, Italian football arrests and cricketers in jail, then everyone pretends to be surprised

OK, I see your agenda...you had a bet on the match? Might be a good idea to 'call in' games with multiple sendings off etc. Like the Barnes decision today (which backs up my argument), I would be confident that all would be in order. FACT: Both sending offs were justified (as proven today). Had the ref not sent two players off, the ref would probably not even have been mentioned on this forum (apart from a possible booking for Noone when he took a dive) and the incorrect call on a 'goal kick'. The rest was handbags.
Leave your BHA goggles at home before you go to the next match!

The decision today had nothing to do with whether the referee was correct or not. Anyone who expected the FA to change their mind is naive.
