Staring at the rude boys
One I've had and one I'll never have :
Seeing as this is going down the retro road, I'll nominate this re-engineered Volvo P1800 by CYAN:

I want one....... seriously.
Poll looking unlikely but what the hell I’ll just post another car that I lust after
I would settle for a red road legal Lancia Delta Integrale of any spec though

I'm a fan of subtle upgrades to make classic more user friendly, and or improve perfomance safety etc . . . . but I draw the line at silly wheels.
my MK1 has Lotus suspension, wheels, a 1760cc precrossflow ( 120 BHP. 130 lb/ft, up from 1200cc-49-67 ) same brakes as an Escort RS/capri, and subtle other bolt on upgrades. nothing irreversible, and aesthetically a std 1200 deluxe as it left the factory, albeit 2" lower!
It is tempting to do a car to the latest trend, ie Focus RS engine, mx5 6 speed box, rack and pinion sterring big brakes etc etc, but I would not bastardise a near mint original paint car & body shell thats 58 years old to do it. The other thing is, in ten years time it'll be redundant, there are quite a few valueless 80's customised cars out there which would otherwise be highly desirable.View attachment 132147
I once had a lift with a kart driver to the track at Hoddesdon in his mkII corrina estate. Was surprised how good it was and then he told me it had a rover v8 and fully sorted suspension.
Also had a lift round the m25 in a lotus carlton which was fun, picking off unsuspecting sports cars.
I nearly bought a MK1 with a V8 some years back, pretty well done, and quite a weapon, but nowhere to put my legs!
The Lotus Carlton is THE saloon car. I know audi have the RS6 and an M5 is a tool and a half, but 30 years ago, nothing came close. Evennow it's up there. Always fantasised about the one in Frosts ( which family still have I ithink) I dread to think of the upkeep costs, if you actually used it, assuming you could fing someone capable of looking after it and finding the parts!
If only the Police had them ;-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yptiCYBSZo

I don’t speak Swedish but those policeman were so laid back that I think they knew they were beat very early on in that chase
I’ll be interested to hear from Swansman as to what they were talking about!
They are not really saying anything from what I can make out, its pretty noisy.
